This Intermediate Automation Designer role will be a hybrid position, based two days a week at their Delta, BC head office. You will contribute to control system design, programming, and commissioning in a dynamic and client-focused environment.

YOUR DAY-TO-DAY:
- Designing control systems for both greenfield and brownfield industrial applications, including bulk material handling, container terminals, water treatment facilities, and light rail systems.
- Preparing technical documentation to support design work, capture site investigation findings, and summarize planned or completed activities.
- Programming, integrating, and commissioning PLCs, HMIs, VFDs, IPCs, and other automation systems required for industrial operations.
- Setting up and executing software simulations and functional testing based on customer-defined specifications.
- Traveling to client sites (both local and remote) as needed, approximately 20-35% of the year.
- Performing on-site commissioning services according to the commissioning schedule, including occasional work outside regular hours, on weekends, or statutory holidays.
- Communicating clearly with internal teams to report project progress in alignment with organizational goals and best practices.
- Managing task timelines effectively, meeting deadlines, and providing progress updates to project managers.
- Estimating time requirements for assigned tasks and reporting them to management.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Diploma or degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechatronics, or a related discipline from a recognized post-secondary institution.
- At least 3 years of practical experience in automation engineering or a closely related field.
- Proven ability to work both independently and collaboratively within a team environment.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to explain complex technical concepts to non-technical clients.
- Exceptional analytical and problem-solving capabilities.
- High attention to detail, with a strong focus on data accuracy and integrity.
- Experience in applying fundamental concepts and procedures to troubleshoot and resolve technical issues.
- Hands-on experience programming and configuring PLCs, HMIs, and SCADA systems, preferably with Rockwell, Siemens, or similar platforms.
- Proficient in automation programming languages such as ladder logic and structured text.
- Solid understanding of Operational Technology (OT) and its integration with IT systems.
COMPENSATION: $75k - $105k
