Position Summary
The Senior HR Generalist will play a key role in delivering and improving core HR programs, providing trusted support to managers and employees, and leading site-level initiatives. With 5+ years of progressive HR experience, the successful candidate will bring a strong foundation in employee relations, talent programs, and HR operations, combined with a proactive, people-first approach. Key Responsibilities
- Serve as a trusted advisor to leaders and employees on HR policies, employee relations, and day-to-day HR matters.
- Directly handle complex employee relations issues, including conflict resolution, performance management, corrective action processes, and workplace investigations with a solutions-oriented approach.
- Develop, deploy and maintain HR policies, procedures, and documentation, emphasizing clarity, accessibility, and corporate and regulatory compliance.
- Manage day-to-day leave-of-absence with manufacturing leaders, ensuring clear communication and efficient administration.
- Support strategic HR initiatives such as workforce planning, talent management, and employee engagement through effective execution and practical insights.
- Lead and coordinate Occupational Health & Safety (OHS) programs, safety committee activities, training, ensure compliance, and drive completion of action items.
- Chair or actively support the employee committee to organize and execute employee activities, including town halls, recognition events, and team-building events.
- Support performance cycle, merit planning, and talent development programs.
- Administer compensation and benefits programs (enrollments, changes, communication) and support wellness campaigns.
- Manage semi-monthly payroll and ensure the accuracy of related reporting, audits, and compliance.
- Provide guidance and training on payroll, PTO, timesheet, and HR system processes.
- Oversee onboarding and offboarding processes to ensure a seamless employee experience.
- Oversee WorkSafe claims, Gradual Return to Work (GRTW) plans, and accommodations coordination.
- Analyze HR metrics, attendance data, and engagement surveys to identify trends and suggest improvements.
- Maintain HRIS and employee records accurately and securely.
Qualifications
Education:
- Post-secondary degree or diploma in Human Resources Management or a related field.
- CPHR designation or working towards it is preferred.
Experience:
- Minimum 5 years of progressive experience across multiple HR functions, with substantial hands-on HR operational responsibilities in a manufacturing or industrial setting.
- Experience supporting employee relations and conducting workplace investigations.
- Previous experience leading or coordinating OHS programs and compliance activities.
- Strong experience with payroll and benefits administration processes.
- Exposure to performance, merit, talent cycles, and employee engagement initiatives.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
- Thorough knowledge of employment legislation, HR best practices, and preferably manufacturing-specific HR issues.
- Strong interpersonal skills, with the ability to communicate empathetically and effectively.
- Ability to build relationships with employees and managers.
- Strong organizational skills and ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines.
- Analytical mindset, comfortable interpreting data and identifying trends.
- High attention to detail and commitment to data accuracy.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel (Pivot Tables, VLOOKUP) and HRIS systems.
- Proactive, solution-oriented, and collaborative approach to problem-solving.
Work Environment
This role is primarily office-based within our manufacturing facility, with frequent presence and engagement required on the manufacturing floor.
