The Senior DevOps Engineer is a key member of the Corporate Data Office, responsible for establishing and advancing DevOps best practices to support scalable, reliable, and secure data and analytics platforms. This role leads the implementation and continuous enhancement of source control, artifact management, CI/CD pipelines, cloud infrastructure automation, performance monitoring, and operational tooling. Collaborating with cross-functional teams, you will ensure robust and efficient DevOps solutions that drive faster, safer deployments and sustainable development operations across environments.
Key Responsibilities:
- Ensure platform stability, scalability, performance, and consistency across data and application environments.
- Define and implement standard DevOps practices for source control, builds, deployments, and release management.
- Support and manage CI/CD processes, including branch management, build automation, and release orchestration.
- Collaborate with data engineers, architects, and infrastructure teams to resolve platform issues and implement improvements.
- Drive automation initiatives, including Infrastructure-as-Code (IaC), Configuration-as-Code (CaC), and security compliance.
- Participate in managing and optimizing cloud environments, including cost and resource efficiency.
- Lead incident response efforts, documentation, and continuous improvement through post-incident reviews.
- Develop and maintain monitoring and observability solutions to assess and enhance platform health and performance.
- Mentor team members and advocate for DevOps best practices, tooling, and continuous learning across teams.
Required Qualifications & Skills:
- Degree or diploma in Computer Science, Data Analytics, or a related field.
- 5+ years in DevOps, SRE, Cloud Engineering, or similar technical roles.
- Proven experience with cloud providers such as AWS, Azure, or GCP.
- Strong knowledge of development languages (e.g., C#, .NET, Python) and scripting (PowerShell, Bash).
- Hands-on expertise with CI/CD systems, version control (especially Git), and branching strategies.
- Experience with IaC/CaC tools and scripting (e.g., ARM, Bicep, Terraform).
- Background in data environments and platforms such as Azure Synapse, Databricks, SQL Server, Snowflake, etc.
- Demonstrated ability to lead technical projects, mentor peers, and support team-wide improvements.
- Familiarity with monitoring tools (e.g., Azure Monitor, Grafana, Prometheus).
- Understanding of networking concepts and their role in infrastructure/deployment strategies.
- Strong interpersonal skills and a passion for collaboration, documentation, and continuous improvement.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Practical experience with Azure DevOps Services, including Repos, Pipelines, and Test Plans.
- Experience with Azure cloud resource management, lifecycle operations, and automation.
- Exposure to DataOps practices and tools supporting analytics lifecycle (e.g., Azure Data Factory, Synapse).
- Experience integrating deployment automation for services such as Azure Functions, Logic Apps, App Services, SQL DBs, and more.
- Knowledge of containerization and orchestration technologies such as Docker and Kubernetes.
