Position: Litigation Law Clerk

Our client, prominent Toronto-based law firm specializing in litigation, is seeking a detail-oriented and proactive Law Clerk to join their dynamic team. Key Responsibilities
- Manage and maintain lawyers' calendars, ensuring accurate tracking of upcoming events and deadlines
- Draft and send correspondence to counsel regarding productions, Independent Medical Examinations (IMEs), motion dates, and undertakings
- Communicate with clients to provide file updates (as directed by lawyers), request documents, and coordinate payments for productions and transcripts
- Prepare and send retainer letters and correspondence to experts and investigators concerning IMEs, expert reports, and surveillance
- Draft correspondence to insured parties regarding productions, undertakings, and upcoming trial dates
- Prepare a variety of legal documents including: Affidavits of Documents (AODs); Motion Records (e.g., WAGG, Rule 30.10, production motions, solicitor removals, enforcement of settlements); Orders and Consents for dismissal; Cost outlines, Offers to Settle, Full and Final Releases; Undertaking charts, acknowledgement of expert duty forms; Summaries of productions and surveillance (as requested); Writs of seizure and sale; Trial documents and briefs; Summons to witness
- Organize and brief key legal materials, including AODs, undertakings, client documents, medical and expert briefs (liability and damages)
- Schedule motions, IMEs, and surveillance in accordance with legal procedures and timelines
- Conduct legal and investigative research including corporate searches, title searches, skip traces, and social media investigations
Qualifications:
- 8+ years of experience working as a Law Clerk in a litigation and/or defense insurance setting
- Experience with docketing is a must
- Strong understanding of legal procedures, court rules, and documentation requirements
- Exceptional organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple deadlines
- Proficient in legal drafting and preparing a variety of litigation documents
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills for dealing with counsel, clients, and third parties
- Comfortable handling sensitive and confidential information with discretion
- Strong attention to detail and ability to follow through on complex tasks
- Familiarity with court scheduling and filing procedures
