Grain Buyer - Role Details:

  • Competitive base salary: $80,000-$90,000 (based on experience)
  • Bonus Structure

  • 3 weeks vacation
  • Hybrid schedule (Monday-Friday)

Grain Buyer - Responsibilities:

  • Build and grow strong relationships with producers and sellers to expand business base
  • Negotiate and purchase grain (chickpeas, lentils, peas, and other specialty crops) to increase market share
  • Maintain trusted partnerships with farmers, brokers, and toll processors
  • Keep accurate daily records of grain received, grades, prices, volumes, and inventory
  • Purchase the right grain grades for domestic and export contracts
  • Coordinate timely deliveries to their destinations
  • Send daily bid/offer reports to management
  • Share weekly crop progress, harvest updates, and market trend reports

Grain Buyer - Qualifications

  • A degree in Ag-Business or related training (preferred)
  • 2+ years of experience in grain buying or ag commodity procurement
  • A solid network of grower and elevator relationships
  • Experience with contract management and grain purchasing systems
  • Strong communication, negotiation, and relationship-building skills
  • Comfort using Excel, Word, Outlook, and internal data systems
  • Highly organized with an ability to balance shifting priorities
  • Willingness to travel regionally and occasionally abroad (less than 10%)
