Your New Role
As a Senior Law Clerk, you will play a pivotal role in managing tort files and supporting the legal team. This position requires a seasoned professional with at least 5 years of experience in personal injury law, specifically tort cases. You will be responsible for ensuring the smooth progression of cases, from initial intake to resolution.
Key Responsibilities:
- File Management: Handle tort files efficiently using FileVine and PrimaFact
- Client Interaction: Communicate with clients to gather necessary information and provide updates on case progress
- Legal Research: Conduct thorough legal research to support case strategies
- Document Preparation: Draft and review legal documents, including pleadings, motions, and correspondence
- Court Preparation: Assist in preparing for court appearances and trials
- Team Collaboration: Work closely with attorneys and other law clerks to ensure comprehensive case management
What You'll Need to Succeed
- Graduated from a Law Clerk Diploma with Honours
- 5 or more years of Law Clerk experience in Personal Injury (Tort) in Ontario
- Experience working with majority of files with catastrophic injuries
- Prior experience and knowledge of the Rules of Civil Procedure, court practices, and procedures
- Proficiency in Word, Outlook, PC Law, FileVine and PrimaFact
- Excellent grammar skills and attention to detail
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Strong communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to effectively interact with clients and all firm members
