We are currently seeking an experienced and proactive Tax Attorney to join our growing team. This role offers an exciting opportunity to work directly with individuals, businesses, and other entities on a broad spectrum of tax matters.
Key Responsibilities:
- Advise clients on federal, state, and local tax implications of business operations, transactions, and investments.
- Structure tax-efficient strategies for business formations, mergers, acquisitions, sales, and reorganizations.
- Counsel clients on estate and gift tax planning, including trusts and wealth transfer strategies.
- Represent clients in audits, appeals, and litigation before tax authorities.
- Prepare and review legal documents, tax opinions, and filings related to tax planning and compliance.
- Conduct legal research on complex tax issues and stay current on changes in tax law.
- Assist in practice development through client relationship management and networking.
- Collaborate with attorneys in other practice areas (e.g., corporate, real estate, trusts & estates) to deliver comprehensive client service.
Qualifications:
- Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school.
- Admission to the state bar and in good standing.
- LL.M. in Taxation preferred but not required.
- 3+ years of experience practicing tax law in a private practice or similar environment.
- Strong client service orientation and ability to manage multiple client matters efficiently.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Entrepreneurial mindset and interest in business development.
Preferred Experience:
- Closely held businesses, high-net-worth individuals, and tax-exempt organizations.
- Estate, gift, and generation-skipping transfer tax planning.
- Partnership and S corporation taxation.
- IRS audits and controversy work.
