The Opportunity

Our Board & Executive Director are leading and scaling up our team to support building owners and financial institutions with decarbonization, climate risk management, and sustainable finance innovation. For this position at the crossroads of management consulting and building decarbonization, we are looking for a Consultant / Expert - Buildings who is well organized, capable of building relationships, able to clearly communicate concepts and conduct quantitative analysis, and who has the experience and ability to successfully lead projects of a technical or strategic nature and contribute to business development.

Responsibilities

Project Management: Lead and support strategic projects, including strategy consulting, retrofit projects, and sustainable real estate finance. Ensure that high quality services are delivered on time and within budget.

Customers: This is a client-facing role. Ensure a clear understanding of client needs, robust deliverables on time and within budget, and ensure client satisfaction.

Technical Oversight: Provide technical oversight and quality control for buildings-related technical and business case analysis, methodologies, and problem solving.

Business Development: Provide organizational support and expansion functions including proposal drafting, presentation development, financial modelling, business development, and networking.

Leadership: Serve as Affine's expert in the buildings sector, stay on top of the latest funding programs and best practices in the industry, and provide thought leadership both internally and externally.

Other: We adapt to your strengths, so responsibilities can vary and may include things like facilitating stakeholder meetings, methodology development, launching high-impact projects, or other contributions that will help the organization shine.

Required skills & experience

A minimum of 5 years professional experience in high performance engineering or real estate , including the oversight and / or design of energy efficiency retrofits, or in the design and delivery of building decarbonization programs.

Post-secondary education in engineering, architecture, or real estate development (or other relevant field).

Leadership and organizational skills with the ability to effectively influence others and successfully resolve a variety of client, project, and technical issues.

Highly effective project management skills and experience, including the ability to prioritize effectively and manage multiple projects at once.

Strong knowledge of energy efficiency retrofits, real estate asset management, business case development, and financial analysis.

Excellent quantitative, communication, and presentation skills.

Experience and interest in business development, including identifying opportunities and writing proposals.

Personal attributes: Listen and seek first to understand, life-long learner, communicate clearly, get results, inspire, questioning, detail-oriented, organized, and analytical.

Value-added qualifications

Project Manager Professional designation with the Project Management Institute.

Energy efficiency / GHG management; including a technical understanding of decarbonization mechanisms and technologies and renewable energy.

Experience with conducting energy audits, GHG and lifecycle assessments, identifying decarbonization strategies and associated cost/benefit analysis.

Consulting experience or skills, i.e. the ability to grasp client needs, ask the right questions, synthesize complex information and develop practical recommendations.

Salary range between $80K - $100K commensurate with experience plus bonus commensurate with performance.
