About the Role

We are seeking a driven and curious Manager, Benefits and Pensions to join our team. This role will lead all benefit and pension plans for approximately 800 employees throughout Canada. The ideal candidate will ensure that our benefit programs remain competitive in the market, familiar and understood by employees, and properly administered.

Key Responsibilities

  • Oversee Canadian benefit and pension programs (administration, benchmarking, invoicing, renewals, system maintenance) with a focus on wellness and exceptional employee experience;
  • Oversee all leaves: STD, LTD, Parental leaves, Worker's Comp and return-to-work;
  • Compliance activities for defined contribution and defined benefit plans; collaborate with consultants to maintain adherence to annual activities;
  • Provide guidance, support and leadership as the direct supervisor to two other team members;
  • Evaluate and optimize internal processes and procedures to ensure efficiency and effectiveness in all operations;
  • Manage all communications-related activities: Maintain the internal employee communications website and create internal communications for various purposes;
  • Responsible for design and development of benefit/pension policies and plans;
  • Recommend, plan, coordinate, and execute wellness programs (Financial Literacy Month, Flu Shot Clinic, Mental Health Week);
  • Manage outsourced programs and vendor relationships;
  • Partner with HR Business Partners and Business Leaders across multiple business platforms;
  • Support organization's growth strategy in the context of acquisitions;
  • Keep apprised of current market trends and best practices.

Knowledge and Experience Required

  • At least 5 years' experience working in a fast-paced HR department and experience managing a team.
  • Familiarity / knowledge of benefits programs, pension administration and disability management
  • A University Degree or College Diploma in Business Administration, Human Resources or in a related field
  • Proven experience thriving in a challenging, fast-paced environment while juggling multiple priorities
  • Strong attention to detail and comfortability working with numbers
  • Able to simplify complex ideas and get stakeholder buy in
  • Passionate about working with people
  • Not afraid to roll up your sleeves and get involved to achieve results
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills, capable of adapting messaging to suit diverse audiences, comfortable with public speaking
  • Advanced knowledge of Excel and PowerPoint
  • CHRP, CHRL or CEBS would be considered an asset
  • Bilingualism would be considered an asset

Note: Offices continue to be central to collaboration and Brookfield's identity. This position requires the employee to be on-site for a minimum of 4 days to perform most effectively. We will reassess the approach on a as needed basis.
