A Junior Technical Product Manager will work with our school board community to investigate issues, adapt feedback for the development team, prioritize work, and provide high level testing of new features while working with the CEO and CTO. This is a junior role that provides an excellent opportunity to learn and grow in the area of product management for an aspiring individual with a strong technical background.
The specific responsibilities include:
- Working with school boards to understand feature requests
- Writing user stories, acceptance criteria and testing criteria in collaboration with our agile team leads
- Managing timelines, timetables, prioritization, and and burn down charts to ensure development tasks are on track and providing clear communication if there are any delays or challenges
- Advocating for both functional and non-functional tasks and negotiating with internal and external stakeholders for time and priority
- Presenting at webinars and writing about new features
- Working with our support team to investigate and triage issues
- Work with the CEO to develop a road map for two of our most active projects
- Work with the Director of Community and our creative team to build marketing materials for any new innovations
Expectations
- At least two years of experience in a software development or highly technical role
- Organizing a backlog for all products
- Schedule and lead planning, backlog, daily sprint, and community sprint meetings in collaboration with our agile team leads, CTO, and CEO
- Verify sprint feature or bug tickets for completeness and fill in any missing user stories, acceptance criteria, or testing criteria for upcoming sprints
- Maintain product forecasting, projection and release burndown charts
- Testing new features to ensure alignment with business and usability requirements
- Extraordinary attention to details that the average person would miss
- Strong arbitration and negotiation skills
- Strong presentation skills and a desire to make real connections with people
- Exceptional communication skills with professional level English
- Familiarity with the SDLC, PDLC, and Agile methodologies
- Professional training in product ownership or project management is an asset
- Previous experience with K-12 education is an asset
