Job Summary:

We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Production Manager to assist the Plant Manager in directing production, distribution, and operations. The Production Manager will perform these duties personally or through subordinate supervisors.

Key Responsibilities:

Safety, Environmental Compliance, and Culture:

  • Promote and enforce a strong safety culture, ensuring all employees adhere to safety standards and participate actively in safety programs.
  • Ensure compliance with environmental regulations and company policies to maintain a safe and sustainable workplace.
  • Foster a culture of confidence, belonging, and high performance, aligning teams with organizational values and goals.

Production Planning and Oversight:

  • Implement manufacturing operations plans to meet program requirements, production goals, and customer specifications.
  • Analyze work orders to forecast labor, equipment, and material needs, developing schedules to balance resources efficiently.
  • Assign operating equipment and personnel to ensure optimal material flow in a timely and cost-effective manner.
  • Coordinate manufacturing activities with other departments and suppliers to maximize production and resource utilization.
  • Establish and adjust work procedures to align with production schedules, budgets, and business priorities.

Quality Assurance and Continuous Improvement:

  • Ensure all established costs, quality standards, and delivery commitments are met.
  • Coordinate quality control inspections to maintain compliance with specifications and customer requirements.
  • Develop and implement measures to improve production methods, environmental compliance, equipment performance, and product quality.
  • Identify opportunities for process improvements and recommend changes to enhance efficiency and effectiveness.

Employee Leadership and Development:

  • Supervise and guide the supervisors, ensuring they effectively manage production workers, conduct performance evaluations, implement improvement plans, approve PTO requests, and delegate work assignments.
  • Provide training, coaching, and guidance to employees, promoting professional growth and skill development.
  • Develop employees to maximize their potential and support succession planning initiatives.
  • Assist in interviewing, selecting, and onboarding candidates for open positions.

Administrative and Operational Duties:

  • Compile, store, and retrieve production data for reports and performance metrics.
  • Assist with budget development and monitor budget adherence on an ongoing basis.
  • Maintain accurate time, production, and operational records.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.

Qualifications and Core Competencies:

  • Significant experience with Safety and Environmental Compliance required
  • Seven (7) or more years of work experience in a manufacturing environment required
  • Two (2) or more years of Supervisory / Leadership experience (as a Production Supervisor, Production Manager, Plant Manager, etc.) in a manufacturing environment required
  • Wood products industry experience highly preferred
  • Excellent Computer skills including Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, etc) required
  • ERP system experience such as SAP preferred
  • Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.
