Health, Safety, Environment & Sustainability (HSE) Specialist
Location: Hybrid - Field-based across Eastern Quebec + Remote (as needed)
Contract Duration: 9 Months (Exempt)
Summary
We're looking for a hands-on HSE Specialist to support field teams and operations across Eastern Quebec. This company is a leading provider of renewable energy solutions, specializing in the development, construction, and operation of large-scale wind, solar, and energy storage projects. They also focus on hydrogen energy, offering clean hydrogen production and storage solutions. Additionally, they provide services for smaller-scale solar systems, energy storage, electric vehicle charging infrastructure, and asset optimization for energy projects.
This role sits at the intersection of compliance, coaching, and culture-offering a meaningful opportunity to shape how safety and sustainability are practiced on the ground. Reporting to senior leadership, you'll act as a trusted advisor across projects, helping teams stay aligned with regulatory and internal standards while promoting a work environment where people feel safe, supported, and empowered. If you're someone who thrives in dynamic, field-based settings and enjoys translating policy into real-world practice, this could be a perfect fit.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct regular field visits to operational sites across Quebec, supporting employees and subcontractors in applying safety and environmental standards.
- Identify recurring risks or trends and work closely with site and operations leaders to prioritize corrective actions.
- Provide expert guidance on safety policies, procedures, and technical compliance with local and internal regulations.
- Advise teams on sustainable practices and help integrate those principles into day-to-day work.
- Track and analyze safety and environmental performance metrics; prepare reports and share findings with leadership to support data-driven decisions.
- Contribute to the development and rollout of new programs led by the HSE and sustainability team.
- Take initiative on related tasks or challenges that support broader safety and environmental goals-especially those that require collaboration and cross-functional input.
You will need at least five years of experience in health and safety, ideally with some exposure to renewable energy or complex field operations. The role also requires a confident communicator who can turn technical regulations into clear, actionable steps. And above all, you lead by example-supporting others with empathy, integrity, and a shared commitment to safety and sustainability.
