Accountant Reporting directly to the Controller, your main responsibility is to ensure a smooth month end close, build reporting and budgeting tools, and work closely with the operations team to help drive the success of Honeyfield Communities. You'll handle all the day-to-day accounting, review, and analysis required to ensure our books are accurate. You'll take care of financial reporting, assist with forecasting and reporting, process payables and oversee payables workflows, staff, and procedures. Your experience with accounts payable, job costing, financial analysis and reporting, and your understanding of the general ledger data structure will help you succeed in this role. Practically speaking, you will: Assist with month end close, budgeting and forecasting, and the preparation of financial statements and reports Understand and report on key business drivers Ensure compliance with ASPE as well as all company policies and relevant legal regulations Process payables and oversee the entire accounts payable process and team Work closely with operations departments to develop KPIs and associated reporting Assist with management of the ERP system (Newstar) Identify and make process improvements to our tools, systems, and team to ensure consistency and efficiency You'll excel in this position if you are: Efficient - your organizational skills allow you to plan, multitask, and prioritize to meet deadlines with minimal supervision. The Details This is a full-time, permanent position, offering a competitive compensation package commensurate with experience including benefits. You will work 8:30AM to 5:00PM, Monday to Friday. We are also looking for someone who is willing and able to work overtime as needed (examples being during month end and other high-volume periods). This position will be based out of our Toronto head office. Qualifications Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in an accounting role with payables responsibilities, working with complex financial data and reporting on this data Experience presenting financial information to non-finance audiences Proficiency in MS Office Suite, especially strong proficiency with Excel for financial modelling and financial analysis Experience with Newstar considered an asset Construction experience preferred Post-secondary university degree in business, with a specialization or major in accounting/finance CPA graduate or enrolled in program
