Residential/Direct Support Specialist - Hiring Event
We are hosting a 1 Day Residential/Direct Support Specialist Hiring Event in Newmarket on June 12th!

As a Residential/Direct Support Specialist, you will provide quality person-centered support to youth and adults to optimize the individual's quality of life. You will assist and teach daily living activities and life skills to promote the self-esteem and well-being, provide medication administration, manage challenging behaviours and situations using CPI knowledge and principles and assist with household activities and personal care. You will receive a comprehensive orientation including Advanced CPI Training and ongoing supervision.

Regularly scheduled hours of either - Days, Evening and Overnight shifts available. Weekend work required for all positions (either every other weekend or one weekend day)
Competitive wages (Pay rate is $20.50 per hour)
This position is also eligible for an additional $3 government wage enhancement that will be added and paid out on all hours worked

What you will need to be successful:

To take on the role of Residential/Direct Support Specialist, you must have:

Certificate from a related field such as Diploma in Behavior Science, Developmental Service Worker (DSW), Child and Youth Worker, Degree or Diploma from a Human Services related program. Consideration of Personal Support Worker certificate with relevant experience.
Current CPR and First Aid Certificate
Clear Criminal record check with Vulnerable Sector Screening dated within the last 3 months
Valid Class G driver's license and access to a reliable vehicle required
Driver's Abstract (3-year Uncertified) dated within the last 3 months
Good oral and written communication skills
Proven interpersonal and organizational skills
Previous community experience working with youth with developmental disabilities, challenging behavior would be considered an asset
