Job Description

The Costing Engineer is a key role, critical in driving the continued growth of the company. The successful candidate will be responsible for managing the labour and costed BOM from start to finish working closely with accounting (costing analysis) and engineering team.

Responsibilities and Duties

For at least six months, work with accounting to assist with developing and implementing cost accounting policies and procedures; ongoing accounting monitoring/assistance as needed
Aid in the development of new labour and overhead rates, budget, and forecasts.
Working in collaboration with Plant Engineering, Supply Chain and Accounting on auditing and establishing manufactured product structure
Responsible for calculating unit hours of labour based on drawings, completing Time Studies when required
Perform periodic analysis of inventory conversion process. Research variances as needed.
Recommend improvements to the process to reduce material adjustments.
Interact with Engineering to ensure Bills of Materials (BOM) are accurate and up to date.
Review and validate BOM's and routings to ensure accuracy and they reflect the latest manufacturing practices.
Assist with analysis of actual labour, material, and overhead cost against Standard. Research and explain variances.
Participate in Quotation Package reviews to ensure all main elements have been received. (I.e. bill of material, components prints/specifications required to quote).
Coordinate "make" versus "outsource" strategy on sub-assemblies based on manufacturing location capabilities.
Prepare, schedule, coordinate and check the assigned engineering projects.
Monitor compliance to applicable codes, practices, QA/QC policies, performance standards and specifications.
Perform overall quality control of the work (budget, schedule, plans, personnel's performance) and report regularly on project status.
Implement value stream mapping diagrams and lean manufacturing concepts.
Initiate and drive process improvements.
Develop / update work instructions.

Skills, Experience and Qualifications

Industrial Engineering Designation.
Cost accounting experience is a requirement, preferably in a manufacturing setting.
Previous experience in a Rubber Manufacturing facility would be a benefit.
Excellent organizational, analytical and interpersonal skills with a customer-focused, team player attitude.
Ability to interpret drawings and Bill of Materials data.
Effective communication skills (written and verbal).
Excellent time management skills in order to meet deadlines.
Excellent computer skills (Microsoft Office, Outlook, ERP systems).
CAD experience with Solidworks, Autocad would be a benefit.
