As a leading Children's Services Agency, CarePros provides Trauma-Informed Community and Foster Care Placements to children and youth with complex medical and behavioural diagnosis. We specialize in supporting the transition of youth into adulthood.

The Opportunity:

We are looking for multiple Child and Youth Care Workers for our Grande Prairie, Alberta location. This role is most commonly in a group home setting providing care to children and youth with complex behavioural needs. CarePros programs differ from what you expect in traditional group home settings. Our programs are structured around the individual child/youth you care for, with a 2-1 (staff to youth ratio). This provides a safe environment where you can develop a meaningful relationship with the youth you are responsible for caring for. You will report directly to a Program Supervisor who will be your key source of training, guidance, and support through your journey with CarePros.

Full-Time Rotations:

Day (7:30am - 3:30pm)
Evening (3:00pm - 11:00pm)
Overnight Awake (10:30pm - 8:00am)

Temporary Casual Rotations:

First come first serve

What You'll Do:

Establish a relationship to guide and support youth through mentorship, role modelling, and positive reinforcement
Supervise children/youth at home and in the community
Complete and maintain documentation of daily activities and observations
Participate in the Care Team through the ongoing development of care plans and programs

Perform routine general program responsibilities such as cleaning and organization

What You Bring:

Minimum of 1-2 years experience working with children and youth with complex behaviours
Direct experience working with youth with complex behavioural and mental health needs

Knowledge of child and youth care mental wellness best practices
Knowledge of effective home care processes and procedures

Trauma Informed Care best practices

Requirements:

Valid Alberta Class 5 Driver's License
Alberta 10-year Driver's Abstract (10 years driving experience is not required)
Alberta auto insurance with $2-million liability coverage
Valid Standard First Aid with CPR Level C + AED (two day in person training completed)
Criminal Record Check with Vulnerable Sector Check obtained within the last three months
Intervention Record Check obtained from Children Services within the last three months
A reliable vehicle
Strong oral and written communication skills
Strong technology and computer skills
Completion of a Degree/Diploma in Child and Youth Care or Social Work is an asset
Suicide prevention training is an asset
Mental Health First Aid is an asset
