Position Summary

Reporting to the Clinical Manager, the Registered Nurse demonstrates clinical competency, utilizes the nursing process to assess plan, implement and evaluate patient care, addresses health educational needs for patients and families, and other health care providers, manages patient care assignments as well as other organizational tasks related to patient unit operations and be responsible for comprehensive nursing in the care of Medically Complex patients and must meet the following criteria:

Education Requirements

Graduate of an accredited college or university nursing program
Registered and in good standing with the College of Nurses of Ontario
Current Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS) certification
Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification (preferred)
Geriatric certificate (preferred)

Mandatory Qualifications

Recent experience in a complex care, geriatric nursing, medically acute or rehabilitation setting
Able to perform I.V. starts and venipuncture
Strong clinical practices with ability to champion evidence based best practice
Knowledge and understanding of Continuing Care reporting systems (CCR), Resident Assessment Instrument (RAI) and Minimum Data Set (MDS)
Experience in patient teaching
