Objective
The Plant Manager is responsible for the leadership and management of the operational functions and performance at their specific plants and sites. The Plant Manager will ensure alignment with all functional groups, Environment, Land, Manufacturing and Safety to drive communication and consistency. Primary focus is optimizing available reserves and leveraging operational excellence to achieve the highest productivity at the lowest cost of production. Ensures Lafarge is viewed as a valued member of the industry and local communities in which it operates. This position is the primary support for the EON AGGS Operations Manager in the execution of the yearly EON AGGS Operational plan.

Responsibilities

Safety Culture:

Follows and ensures full compliance with Health & Safety policies and procedures.
Ensures all employees and sites meet the Lafarge safety policy requirements for our employee's safety.
Participate in the administration and implementation of the safety program by ensuring that all of the safety programs are functioning properly.

Human Resources:

Administer and manage hourly working agreements with site employees.
Directly responsible for the individual development, motivation and training of all administrative production personnel to promote customer focus, operational efficiency and skill development.

Production Management:

Develop, implement and track maintenance, production and shipping processes and strategies to achieve targeted Key Performance Indicators (KPI's).
Employ daily communication process with Local Distribution, and Quality to drive group efficiencies, manage inventories and production performance.
Utilize and review Local and National Contracts to ensure expectations and purchasing gains are met.

Financial Management:

Plan, drive and track financial performance with local/regional tools, develop, implement and manage annual repair budgets, perform financial analysis to identify cost reduction opportunities.
Forecast profitability and production to optimize yield; support supply chain with balancing inventory and sales needs to manage and minimize working capital impact.

Customer Focus:

Perform monthly inventory reconciliation to assist Distribution in balancing area inventory levels in order to meet local demand.
Schedule and plan production, while working with local Quality team to optimize product offering.

Land Management:

Ensure that site meets or exceeds all Lafarge and Regulatory guidelines.
Assist Land in the development, implementation and management of a sustainable mining plan with detailed stripping, production phasing and rehabilitation forecasts to ensure reserve optimization, while managing community impact.

Environmental Management:

Ensure that plants meets or exceeds all Lafarge and Regulatory guidelines.
Work with Central Environmental Department to develop, implement and manage operational standards to manage activities and mitigate our environmental impact.

Plan and Scheduling:

Develop production schedules and participate in the Sales, Production and Inventory (S.P.I.) process and ensure inventory targets are met while ensuring adequate supply for all stakeholders and customers.

Projects:

Assists the EON AGGS Operations Manager and management team in project execution as assigned.
More specifically participates in the defining and implementation of capital investment projects, planning and budget control, contract negotiation and award, and organizing construction, start up and commissioning.
Prepare or supervise conceptual and feasibility studies, project definitions, and scope of work; ensure primary objectives are met and/or propose alternatives. Coordinate the system start-up and commissioning along with the plant people; assists in the resolution of any contract disputes; organize proper training when required. Timely closures of projects. Prepare or supervise capital cost estimates; prepare investment analysis and cash flow projections for the justification of projects; prepare appropriation requests (AR's); promote the projects at the market level. Identify capital investments in conjunction with the EON Management team and other key personnel

Operations Manager Support:

Acts as the primary support for the EON AGGS Operations Manager in the execution of the yearly EON AGGS Operational plan.

Relationships with Others Functions:

Reports to Operation Manager
Supervises superintendents, lead hands
Supervises Weigh Masters and Shipping employees
Works closely with other Area Performance teams, Quality Staff, Sales Staff, Area Safety Representatives, Land, Environment and Finance Staff.

Specific Accountabilities:

Safety: Near Miss process, Motor Vehicle Accidents (MVA), First Aids (FA), Medical Incidents (MI), Loss time Incidents (LTI)
Production: Manufacturing KPI's, Maintenance management and tracking, Daily production meeting, M/E report
Financial: P2P - PO approval, EBIT review, Budget compliance
Customer Focus: Shipping & Quality KPI's
Land: Environmental Audits
External Royalty agreements/Operations
Stripping
Logistics

Dimensions:

Production: 800,000 tonnes of aggregate production
Direct Reports: 16
20% travel (within Eastern Ontario market area)

Qualification Profile

Education/Work Experience:

College Degree in Engineering or Business or the equivalent of education and experience.
A minimum of five years Supervisory/Managerial experience working in a similar environment

Knowledge & Skills:

Understanding of general accounting principles an asset
Excellent organizational and planning skills
Proficiency with various computer applications is a definite asset
Knowledge of the aggregate industry preferred
Good written and verbal communications
Strong analytical skills, research, problem solving and decision making
Good time management, self directed, uses time wisely, can attend to a broad range of activities
