Duties and Responsibilities:
Liaise with the Farm General Manager concerning compost quality and equipment concerns
Attend weekly productions meetings, and provide feedback as to the productivity and work conditions within the compost wharf department
Actively participate in maintaining a healthy and safe work environment
Provide motivation and support to all wharf associates
Responsible for timely and accurate data entry for required system entries (i.e. Avanti)
Effectively train lead hand to assume the Wharf Supervisor position responsibilities in their absence
Train lead hand in employee management techniques and methods on accomplishing assigned tasks in a safe and timely manner
Train all new employees in department procedures
Monitor filling process of compost to ensure timely, safe delivery of compost to the Tunnel Barn Department
Monitor the making of compost for proper quality composition
Ensure bunker filler is operational
Ensure bunker floors are properly monitored and managed
Ensure the highest level of sanitation within the Wharf Department
Advise Human Resource Department of any workplace accident immediately after the incident and assist in the accident investigation / report
Resolve crises as they arise
Works in tandem with the Growers to manage the Tunnels operation, ensuring coverage
Qualifications:
Minimum Grade 12 education; post secondary education is an asset.
5+ Years compost experience
Previous experience in a mushroom farm is preferred.
Heavy Equipment Operation experience preferred.
Previous supervisory experience required.
Strong business acumen and an analytical mind
Ability to problem solve, address key opportunities, and create the story.
Demonstrably strong organizational skills and the ability to prioritize.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
Eligible to work in Canada.
Fluent in written and verbal English, other languages are an asset.
