Our client is a leader in the Greater Toronto Area for the supply and repair of hydraulic equipment. They are seeking a skilled general machinist to grow their hydraulic cylinder manufacturing and repair business unit.
Duties:
Performing machining tasks by using engineering sketches or verbal instructions
Computing dimensions within tolerances to lay out work for fabrication
Making precision measurements using precision measuring instruments and techniques
Disassembly and assembly of components, fit aligning and adjusting components to precise tolerances
Setting up jigs, fixtures or machine attachments required for complex precision parts and equipment
Determining tooling requirements, setup procedures and control settings based on requirements
lathe, mill, grinder operation
Usage of material handling equipment
Inspects work pieces at beginning of and throughout production run to insure part meets tolerance requirements
Inspects and understands when to replace cutting tools
Demonstrates ability to effectively use all necessary measuring tools in order to assure conformance to print
Maintain a safe working and good housekeeping practices
Works effectively in a fast-paced manufacturing environment
Flexibility and Communication skills are very important
Works well in a team as well as independently
Qualifications:
Community college graduation plus completion of a recognized machinist apprenticeship program and Ontario Machinist Certificate of Qualification
Thorough knowledge of machining methods and shop mathematics
Ability to compute dimensions, tapers, cutting angles, tool settings, feed rates and machine speeds
Ability to operate manual equipment with a minimum of three years of experience
Ability to multitask
English verbal and written communication
Willingness to work Overtime, weekends, or Flexible Work Schedules as needed
