We have an interesting opportunity for a public policy professional to join our Driver Licensing Policy, Standards and Governance team in Victoria. As a Senior Policy Advisor, you will be accountable for identifying the need for policy, regulatory and legislative changes consistent with corporate and government strategic goals. The successful candidate will also act as Policy lead for medium to large-scale driver licensing projects.

Your responsibilities may include:
Establishing and maintaining effective working relationships with partners and stakeholders, including corporate departments, government and ministerial officials, law enforcement agencies, industry representatives, public organizations and other jurisdictions;
Designing, developing and evaluating provincial driver licensing policy, programs and projects;
Leading policy development and review projects to investigate, analyze and recommend solutions to highly complex and strategic policy matters relating to major changes to legislation, regulations and corporate policy direction;
Providing advice on all aspects of policy and programs as they relate to driver licensing;
Identifying emerging trends, research, issues and best practices in the areas of road safety and driver licensing, and recommending legislative, regulatory and policy changes;
Preparing a variety of briefing materials and decision documents for senior management, government and ministerial officials;
Providing advice and guidance to other members of the policy team.

Position Requirements

Candidates should have three (3) or more years' experience in public policy development and administration, including work on increasingly complex files and projects. Candidates should also have experience in project management, strategic planning and prioritization, government decision-making, legislative and regulatory development, and relationship management. Experience with ICBC Driver Licensing, British Columbia's legislative and regulatory processes, administrative justice, and road safety is preferred.

Candidates must be comfortable showing significant initiative to research, review and analyze complex issues and must have the interpersonal skills and work ethic necessary to build trust with colleagues and partners. Significant analysis, consultation and collaborative problem solving skills are essential for this position.

Candidates should possess, at minimum, an undergraduate degree. A Master's in Public Administration or a similar discipline is preferred.

Work arrangements defined:
Hybrid 8 - you will work a minimum of 8 days per month at your primary in-office headquarters (typically 2 days per week). The remaining days will be remote within British Columbia.
