Position Highlights

ICBC's Office of Strategy Management has an exciting opportunity available for a professional with exceptional business acumen and analytical abilities to join the team as a Strategic Planning Advisor. You are a critical and creative thinker and influencer, who works equally well in a team or as an individual contributor to support business opportunities within the strategic planning cycle.

Working collaboratively with business leaders and other corporate support services, you will use your organizational business knowledge and problem-solving expertise to:

• Determine the feasibility of new business initiatives in alignment with our corporate 2025 strategy, taking a structured, data-driven approach to support decision-makers

• Lead the preparation of project proposals in alignment with corporate priorities, including preparing business cases, data and financial analysis, risk assessments, and cost/benefit analyses

• Manage processes and practices related to effective governance, management, and prioritization of the annual corporate initiatives plan

Key responsibilities may also include:

• Supporting corporate-level planning services, including development of annual business plans aligned to the corporate strategy

• Continuously innovating and refining initiative governance and corporate planning processes

• Providing broad consulting services to senior management, including preparing high impact documents, reports and presentations

Critical to this position will be your ability to operate independently and drive multiple deliverables in a fast-moving, sometimes ambiguous environment. You proactively resolve issues, knowing when to seek and drive clarity. Your structured, pragmatic approach and clear communication builds consensus and trust.

Position Requirements

• Exceptional oral, written, and graphic (PowerPoint) communication skills. Your familiarity with data visualization techniques and reporting tools such as Excel and Tableau help you to simplify complex ideas and information.

• Effective facilitation and persuasion abilities. You articulate yourself clearly and are an active listener. You lead discussions with a focus on including diverse viewpoints (including your own), challenging groups to bring forward creative solutions, building consensus, and achieving desired outcomes.

• Results driven and organized. You calmly juggle multiple deliverables and manage ambiguity, tight deadlines, change requests, and constraints.

• Financial, technological, and data acumen. You have a working knowledge of practices and techniques of cost benefit analysis and financial modelling and an understanding of how cross-functional initiatives are planned and delivered in a large organization.

• Knowledge of concepts, principles, standards and practices of strategic planning, project management, change management, structured decision making, and management consulting

• Strong relationship building skills across all levels of the organization and other shared services, with an ability to work well with others to resolve complex issues.

• Insurance or financial services sector experience an asset

The ideal candidate will hold either an undergraduate degree, a professional designation, an MBA and/or professional experience as a consultant.
