Key Areas of Responsibility
Strategy Development: Develop a comprehensive health and safety training strategy and program that aligns with our commitment to employee well-being.
Content Creation: Collaborate with subject matter experts to create engaging content for safety training modules. Design both e-learning and in-person training materials that effectively convey essential safety concepts to employees.
Program Execution: Plan and execute both short-term and long-term training programs tailored to our existing mines and potential new sites, adhering to evolving industry standards and best practices. Coordinate and manage the delivery of training sessions across the company to ensure widespread participation.
Monitoring and Evaluation: Monitor employee enrollment and completion of courses, managing recertification and refresher training requirements as necessary. Evaluate the outcomes of training programs and suggest improvements based on data-driven insights to optimize effectiveness and quality.
Reporting and Communication: Prepare progress reports to keep internal stakeholders informed about the impact and progress of training initiatives. Maintain a culture of open communication, actively identifying and reporting health, safety, and environmental risks.
Policy and Compliance: Uphold and promote Conuma's workplace policies and standard work procedures focusing on risk identification, assessment, and control. Participate in health and safety meetings, training sessions, and drills as part of our continuous improvement efforts. Promote and integrate environmental policies, programs, and practices into all job tasks and activities.
Education, Experience & Qualifications
A minimum of 3-5 years of direct experience in a health and safety role specifically within the mining industry or a related heavy industrial environment.
At least 5-8 years of overall experience in a heavy industrial setting.
Previous experience in leadership or as a facilitator is highly valued.
Preference for candidates holding Canadian Registered Safety Professional (CRSP) or Canadian Registered Safety Technician (CRST) certifications.
Relevant safety certificates aligned with the program scope, including but not limited to confined space entry, fall arrest, rigging and hoisting.
Experience with learning management systems (LMS), including managing, creating, and implementing e-learning content.
Valid Class 5 Driver's License
Technical Competencies & Skills
Ability to adhere to a 5x2 schedule with 8-hour shifts.
Strong verbal and written communication skills, enabling effective training content delivery and collaboration.
Excellent time management skills, with the ability to prioritize tasks and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, SharePoint, etc.)
Ability to quickly learn and effectively use new software applications or systems relevant to the role.
Demonstrated ability to lead and motivate teams, ensuring active participation and compliance with training programs.
Strong interpersonal skills to effectively collaborate with team members, external trainers, and subject matter experts.
Keen attention to detail and analytical skills for evaluating training effectiveness.
Strong critical thinking and problem-solving abilities to address training challenges.
Ability to adapt to changing environments and industry standards, maintaining up-to-date knowledge of occupational health and safety regulations and practices.
Fundamental knowledge and experience in key safety areas such as confined space entry, working at height, and other critical safety protocols.

Specifically for the Safety Training Coordinator, we offer an annual base salary range of $95,000.00 - $115,000.00, along with a variety of bonuses. These bonuses include monthly efficiency bonuses linked to safety and production, quarterly retention bonuses, and a performance bonus tailored to reward your contributions. Our benefits package also includes paid vacation and personal days, 7% RRSP matching, and 100% employer-paid extended health and dental care, among other valuable perks.
