As the Vice President of Sales, you will be responsible for leading and driving the sales strategy to achieve revenue targets and expand market share in the highly competitive book publishing industry. Reporting directly to the President and Publisher, you will play a pivotal role in shaping the company's sales vision and executing strategies to maximize growth and profitability.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement comprehensive sales strategies to drive revenue growth and achieve sales targets across all channels, including traditional bookstores, online retailers, educational institutions, and specialty markets.
  • Lead, mentor, and inspire a high-performing sales team, providing guidance, coaching, and support to achieve individual and collective goals.
  • Establish strong relationships with key accounts, distributors, and retail partners to expand distribution networks and optimize sales opportunities.
  • Analyze market trends, consumer behavior, and competitive landscapes to identify growth opportunities and adapt sales strategies accordingly.
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with marketing, editorial, and operations teams to align sales efforts with overall business objectives and product initiatives.
  • Drive innovation in sales processes, tools, and technologies to enhance efficiency, effectiveness, and customer experience.
  • Develop and manage sales budgets, forecasts, and performance metrics, providing regular reporting and analysis to senior management.
  • Represent the company at industry events, conferences, and trade shows to build brand awareness, foster relationships, and explore new business opportunities.
  • Stay abreast of industry developments, emerging trends, and best practices in sales and publishing, continuously seeking opportunities for improvement and growth.
  • Uphold the company's values, mission, and standards of excellence in all interactions and activities, serving as a positive ambassador for the brand.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Marketing, or a related field; MBA preferred.
  • Proven track record of success in senior sales leadership roles within the book publishing industry, with a demonstrated ability to drive revenue growth and achieve sales targets.
  • Strong leadership and managerial skills, with the ability to inspire, motivate, and develop a high-performing sales team.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to build and maintain relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Strategic thinker with a results-oriented mindset, capable of developing and executing sales strategies that align with business objectives.
  • Analytical mindset with proficiency in data analysis, forecasting, and performance metrics to drive informed decision-making.
  • Creative problem solver with a collaborative approach to decision-making and problem-solving.
  • Strong business acumen and understanding of the book publishing industry, including market dynamics, trends, and competitive landscapes.
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic environment, managing multiple priorities and adapting to changing circumstances.
