Nuna is now accepting resumes for Foreperson with large heavy civil earthworks / road building construction / mining projects experience to work at our project site in the Northwest Territories. Nuna is the largest Inuit-owned heavy civil construction, earthworks and mine construction contractor in Canada. We offer:

The Foreman / Foreperson is the immediate and primarily in-field supervisor on site. The Foreman/ Foreperson provides leadership and is responsible for scheduling, work planning, coordinating, supervising, and assisting in cost controls. Responsibilities also include ensuring that established site goals are realized within established quality and safety standards while ensuring consistent and fair application of labour relations policies and procedures, proper apprentice training and productivity of crew at the job site and equipment maintenance within their respective area of operations.

Duties:

  • Conducts daily Toolbox Meeting
  • Daily planning of tasks 3 day look ahead
  • Participate in Task Hazard Analysis reviews
  • Daily review of paperwork including crew timecards, radiation cards, FLRA's, production sheets, haul sheets, 5 Point Cards and coding timecards
  • In field meetings with the client to maintain client relationships
  • Plans and supervises day-to-day operations on site
  • Ensures accurate and timely completion of employees' time sheets
  • Ensures accurate and timely updating of rotation schedules
  • Ensures that orientation and training records are fully completed
  • Effectively plans and supervises crews on a task basis
  • Participates with the Project Manager, Superintendent and Client in the development of the Project's operating procedures
  • Ensures that Employees are well trained for assigned duties and for maintenance of effective records
  • Identifies manpower requirements for the Project and make recommendations to the Superintendent and Project Manager
  • Ensures adequate site-specific safety orientation and training has been completed before new employees start on their regular duties
  • Conducts safety meetings on a regular basis
  • Recommends equipment replacement, addition, deletion, modifications and ensure that required maintenance is completed

  • Incident investigations (Support Safety Advisor where required)
