Zaber is looking for a Quality Control Technologist to join our Incoming Quality Control (IQC) team. In this role, you will be the first line of defense, ensuring that all received components meet our specifications. Your primary focus will be on inspecting incoming components, verifying them against technical drawings, and resolving quality issues.
The IQC team collaborates with external vendors, product managers, engineers and our internal machine shop to resolve technical issues. We drive continuous improvement in engineering drawings, manufacturing processes, part manufacturability, and overall workflow.

Through your role, you will advance this goal by ensuring our components remain of high quality, allowing the rest of Operations to build and sell products that perform as expected.
As a QC Technologist, you will:- Partner with product managers, the Sustaining Engineering team, and the internal machine shop to resolve recurring quality issues, improve engineering drawings, enhance part manufacturability, and optimize processes in the QC department.
- Design and develop custom inspection fixtures, jigs, and gauges using SolidWorks to streamline inspection processes and improve measurement accuracy.
- Act as one of our technical points of contact for external vendors regarding non-conforming parts and in-process troubleshooting. Issue Non-Conformance Reports (NCRs), request Corrective and Preventive Actions, and work collaboratively with suppliers to resolve root causes of defects.
- Perform detailed visual, dimensional, and functional inspections with precision instruments (calipers, micrometers, height gauges, CMM, etc.)
- A Diploma or Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, or proven hands-on experience in related fields.
- Hands-on experience in a Quality Control, Quality Assurance, or machine shop environment
- Strong knowledge of manufacturing processes, capabilities, and common defects for metal and plastic parts, and a high level of competence in reading engineering drawings
- An aptitude for building relationships and collaborating with others to solve complex problems
- Excellent attention to detail and problem-solving skills. You notice when something is not right and are enthusiastic about finding the root cause and making improvements.
- Understanding of machine shop workflows, routing, and operations and/or manufacturing cost estimating or quoting.
- Familiarity with complex GD&T standards
- Programming or operating Coordinate Measuring Machines (CMM).
- Managing vendor relations and onboarding
- Evaluating or troubleshooting electromechanical system components, such as motors, PCBs, lead screws, and belt drives
- The starting wage for the role is $35-$49 depending on experience
