Reporting to the Director, 2027 Grey Cup, this role is responsible for supporting the planning, coordination, and execution of festival operations, venues, and event delivery. This role focuses on supporting Festival logistics as well as liaising with the Canadian Football League (CFL) and staff of the Saskatchewan Roughrider Football Club, supporting the Volunteer Festival Committee leadership team and working collaboratively with key stakeholders in the community.
This role will be focused on the delivery of the 2027 Grey Cup Festival project plan including the execution of all Festival Events including, but not limited to, entertainment events, CFL Team hospitality rooms, Family Zone, flag football activation, cultural events, formal events and any other activities as envisioned for the Festival.
The Manager will work collaboratively with staff, volunteers, partners, contractors, sponsors, and venue representatives to deliver successful events while maintaining project timelines, budgets, operational plans, and safety requirements on behalf of the Grey Cup Festival team.
Major Responsibilities:
· Support the operational planning and execution of all Grey Cup Festival events, activations and venues, including site planning, transportation, logistics, venue requirements and event operations.
· Support the development and execution of flagship Festival events, including fan zones, ticketed events, community celebrations and special events in collaboration with the Volunteer Festival Committee.
· Support and maintain the overall Festival project plan, coordinating across committees, departments and stakeholders to ensure milestones, timelines and deliverables are achieved.
· Coordinate vendors, contractors, suppliers and other event partners to ensure operational requirements are identified, planned and delivered effectively.
· Support the management of Festival operating budgets, including monitoring expenditures, identifying efficiencies and ensuring activities are delivered within approved budgets.
· Review operational agreements, venue contracts and service arrangements to ensure alignment with event requirements and approved budgets.
· Coordinate operational guidance and support to internal teams and volunteer committees, facilitating cross-functional collaboration and participating in planning meetings and working groups as required.
· Collaborate with sponsorship and partnership teams to ensure contractual activation requirements are incorporated into Festival planning and successfully delivered.
· Contribute to a collaborative, innovative and service-focused Festival culture and perform other duties as required.
Requirements
· Completion of a diploma or degree in Event Management, Business Administration, Sport Management, Tourism, Hospitality, Project Management, or a related field or equivalent learning obtained through experience
· 5+ years related experience in Event Management roles with a focus on event planning, event delivery, and volunteer management
· Strong project management skills to coordinate many moving parts and groups simultaneously
· Financial acumen, able manage and report on Festival budgets
· Innovative approach to build on existing successes while also exploring new opportunities and value adds
· Ability to positively lead various personalities and skill sets to achieve a common goal
· Proven skills in managing multiple competing priorities, attention to details in a fast-paced event environment with shifting priorities
· Demonstrated professionalism and maturity in responding to staff, sponsors and public who raise issues, complaints and demonstrate assertive behaviour
· Experience working with volunteers and volunteer event leadership
· Team oriented leadership style with a "can do" service focus and drive to achieve organizational results
· Knowledge of event supplies, event equipment, and/or service ordering, as well as inventory control of these items
· Availability to work irregular hours and varied work schedule especially in the lead up and delivery of the 2027 Grey Cup
