Quality and Compliance Manager

The Quality and Compliance Manager is responsible for ensuring that Tayco's products, processes, and documentation comply with all applicable regulatory requirements, industry standards, and certification bodies. This role owns the Quality Management System (QMS) and quality control processes end-to-end, driving continuous improvement in quality performance and building a culture of quality across the organization — from design and sourcing through manufacturing and final delivery.

Responsibilities

Regulatory & Industry Compliance

• Monitor furniture industry-specific standards and evolving regulatory requirements, assessing their impact on Tayco's products and processes.
• Develop, implement, and maintain internal compliance policies and procedures aligned with current regulations and best practices.
• Track changes in codes, standards, and legislation (e.g., environmental, sustainability etc.) and proactively update internal practices.

Product Certification Management

• Oversee the certification process for products to ensure compliance with industry standards, including ANSI/BIFMA (e.g., BIFMA X5 series, ANSI/BIFMA E3), ISO 9001, and relevant sustainability certifications (e.g., CLEANAIR, FSC).
• Act as the primary point of contact with third-party certification bodies and testing laboratories, coordinating testing schedules, submissions, and audits.
• Maintain a master certification tracker and complete, audit-ready records of certifications, test reports, and supporting documentation.
• Manage certification renewals and re-testing timelines to avoid lapses in product compliance.

Quality Management System (QMS)

• Maintain and continuously improve the QMS (e.g., ISO 9001 framework), ensuring documentation, procedures, and records remain current and audit ready.
• Establish and oversee QC processes across incoming materials, in-process manufacturing, and final inspection to ensure products meet or exceed customer and regulatory requirements.
• Define quality metrics and inspection criteria; conduct root cause analysis and drive corrective and preventive action (CAPA) on non-conformances.
• Lead internal audits and support external/third-party audits, including preparation, execution, and follow-up on findings.

Continuous Improvement & Quality Culture

• Analyze quality data (defect rates, customer complaints, returns, scrap/rework) to identify trends and drive systemic improvements.
• Lead or support continuous improvement initiatives (e.g., Lean, Six Sigma, Kaizen) to reduce variation and improve first-pass yield.
• Partner with Production, Engineering, Product Development, and Supply Chain to embed quality checkpoints throughout the product lifecycle.
• Deliver training and awareness programs to build quality ownership at all levels of the organization.

Documentation, Reporting & Stakeholder Management

• Maintain organized, audit-ready records of certifications, test results, inspection reports, and compliance documentation.
• Prepare and present quality/compliance performance reports, KPIs, and audit outcomes to senior leadership.
• Manage customer and regulatory inquiries related to product compliance, certifications, and quality performance.
• Liaise with suppliers to ensure incoming materials and components meet required specifications and certification standards.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in engineering, Quality Management, Industrial Technology, or related field (or equivalent experience).
• 5+ years of experience in quality assurance/compliance, ideally within furniture manufacturing or a related industrial/manufacturing environment.
• Working knowledge of BIFMA/ANSI standards, ISO 9001, and sustainability certification frameworks.
• Certified Quality Manager (CQM), Certified Quality Auditor (CQA), or Lean Six Sigma certification is an asset.
• Experience managing third-party audits and certification body relationships.

• Excellent documentation, organizational, and audit-readiness discipline.
• Effective cross-functional communication and stakeholder management.
• Ability to translate regulatory requirements into practical operational processes.

Salary Range: $90,000 - $100,000
