The Maintenance Technician is responsible for ensuring all required maintenance activities are completed safely and efficiently. This position is ideal for a well-rounded individual who is adaptable, willing to learn new tasks, and comfortable taking on a variety of responsibilities. Duties include, but are not limited to, road, site, and equipment maintenance, reagent haulage, snow removal, and plant operations. The hourly wage for this position ranges from $25.00-$30.00.
YOUR RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Utilizes workplace safety practices and job hazard analysis to ensure work is performed safely
- Ensures all applicable permits are taken out correctly and any defects are corrected in a timely manner
- Maintenance of roads which may include but not be limited to gravel addition, culvert replacements, repairs to washouts, plowing snow and sanding to maintain access
- Maintenance of mine sites which may include but not be limited to brushing, tree clearing, various inspections, ditch clearing, effluent piping systems
- Application of herbicide products for vegetation control on dams, roads and spillways
- Maintenance of treatment plants which may include but not be limited to repairs to pumps, valves, agitators, wells, tank cleaning, painting, instrument calibration
- Maintenance of equipment which may include but not be limited to generators, portable pumps, forklift, skid steer, loader, backhoe, steamer, light trucks, trailers, ATV's, snowmachines, power tools
- Reagent mixing and haulage, will be required to obtain a Transportation of Dangerous Goods Certificate
- Building / shop maintenance of equipment which may include but not be limited to light plumbing, lighting, fire extinguishers, AEDs, good housekeeping practices
- Ensures the CMMS (computerized maintenance management system) is utilized and maintained regarding preventive and scheduled maintenance programs
- Participate in an on-call rotation with other team members
- Other responsibilities as required
Requirements
You are hard-working and dedicated to performing work in a safe manner. You are flexible, versatile and able to confidently address environmental, regulatory, safety, and maintenance issues. Familiarity with structured planning and a commitment to continuous improvement are considered assets. In addition, you possess the following skills and attributes:
- Commitment to safety, including a commitment to a positive safety culture
- Preference given to candidates with technical degrees, diplomas, certificates, trade designations
- Must have excellent oral and written communication, interpersonal, organizational and conflict resolution skills
- Knowledgeable in relevant computer applications/software and proficient in their use, e.g. MS Office, CMMS programs
- Strong organizational and time management skills /ability to continually prioritize workload and respond to top priorities with a sense of urgency
- Able to learn new tasks, plant operations, herbicide application, chainsaw, forklift, boat and snowmobile license, other heavy equipment
