BRC is looking for an enthusiastic and passionate individual to join our extraordinary and growing team as a Manufacturing Engineer in our Engineering department. POSITION SUMMARY:

The Manufacturing Engineer is responsible for supporting the manufacturing cycle of product solutions for the office furniture marketplace from inception to production. The Manufacturing Engineer will work closely with production, other engineering teams, and supply chain team to support product solutions, to refine and modify existing products or processes to support continuous improvement initiatives in accordance with engineering design, industry, and safety standards.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Process standard and special orders, or repeat orders depending on project requirement, including custom work.
  • Check orders against Acknowledgements and Purchase Order for details and quantity.
  • Prepare all drawings for customer sign-off and Project Matrix support.
  • Per project requirements, handle the creation of drawings for custom hardware and installation, creation of CNC programs for custom products, and creation of templates in Excel format and Smartsheet.
  • Manage Material Optimization for production.
  • Process and refine innovative product designs using knowledge and understanding of existing construction and production methods.
  • Generate innovative ideas for manufacturing development and production processes through team collaboration, research, and creative thinking.
  • Analyze, refine, and modify existing products to support continuous improvement through increased efficiency and performance.
  • Collaborate within the Production and Engineering teams to support the manufacturing and development cycle process, attending regular new product development meetings and reviewing their work with a keen eye on detail.
  • Collaborate with cross-disciplinary teams to collectively solve product issues including function, manufacturability, technical application, testing, installation, etc. and to communicate effectively to ensure smooth transition of new product into regular production.
  • Develop multiple virtual models of new or refined products for evaluation using required software (including, but not limited to AutoCAD and SolidWorks
  • Assist and provide direction for the fabrication of prototypes and pre-production as required for the design evolution, visual or mechanical evaluation, testing, and training requirements.
  • Interpret relevant testing requirements as they apply to products and their application, performing preliminary testing to ensure the product design complies with all relevant testing requirements, including but not limited to BIFMA.
  • Complete accurate technical documentation for developed product (assembly and part drawings, assembly manuals, part specification sheets) and other supporting documentation as required
  • Contribute to the development of new processes and tools that improve the development process and support BRC's position in the industry.
  • Acquire knowledge of industry trends and testing standards, manufacturing and materials, technology, competitive product and engineering practices, environmental issues, and sustainable design principles.

Requirements

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Degree, Diploma, or equivalent experience in Industrial or Manufacturing Engineering, Industrial Design, or equivalent
  • 5 years' experience in a manufacturing engineer role and manufacturing environment, manufacturing processes or equivalent.
  • Minimum of 3 years' experience in 2020 SolidWorks including, strong 3D modelling and detail design using other modelling programs including, Inventor, etc.
  • Good project and time management skills, experience in handling multiple projects.
  • Experience in CNC programs, in multiple format knowledge (preferred).
  • Experience with custom work.
  • Experience in creating, reading and discerning complex drawings.
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail, as well as strong problem solving and creative thinking skills.
  • A self-motivated desire to produce valuable work with a creative nature.
  • Excellent communication (verbal and written), presentation, interpersonal and collaborative skills.
  • Ability to work well, both in a diverse multidisciplinary team environment as well as independently with minimal supervision.

WORKING CONDITIONS

  • Manual dexterity is required to use desktop computer and peripherals.
  • Occasional lifting of moderately heavy objects may be required.
  • Overtime as required.
  • May be exposed to hazards associated with manufacturing.
  • May be required to use PPE.
  • May be required to use hand tools for prototyping and/or building.
  • Hybrid working environment, comfortable coming into the office (1 time per week minimum)
  • Hours of Work: 7:00a.m. to 3:30pm.
