Optix is looking for a Senior Full Stack Engineer to help us build the next generation of AI-powered features in our platform. We are evolving from a rules-based automation platform into a leading conversational, agentic workspace management system.
You'll work across our backend and frontend to ship features that bring AI capabilities to life for coworking and flex space operators, the people running the workspaces that are reshaping how the world works. Partnering closely with our Technical Lead, Product, and Design, you'll deliver features end to end, with room to take on more technical-design responsibility as you grow with us.
This is a rare opportunity to deepen your AI expertise through hands-on agentic work and mentorship from experienced AI leadership, all within a profitable, proven SaaS company, while you leverage your strong full-stack fundamentals to ship meaningful features.
Note: This is a hybrid opportunity for someone based in Vancouver, BC (60% in our beautiful waterfront Gastown office, 40% from home).
Requirements
Required skills and experience
- 6+ years of full-stack engineering experience, with a track record of reliably delivering features end to end
- Strong backend fundamentals, including building and scaling APIs (REST and/or GraphQL) and a solid grasp of databases and data-flow patterns
- You've built something real with LLM APIs and understand in practice how they behave, including their quirks and failure modes
- You are comfortable in Python and familiar with the LangChain ecosystem
- You understand that AI features demand different thinking about quality, testing, and UX than deterministic features
- You use AI tools (e.g. Claude) fluently to accelerate and debug your own engineering
- Strong problem-solving and systems thinking about integration patterns
- Comfort with Git, unit testing, CI, and the Linux command line, plus a habit of writing maintainable, testable code in complex systems
- You can clearly articulate technical reasoning to technical and non-technical teammates, and work well both independently and collaboratively
Strongly preferred
- PHP / Laravel, MySQL, and GraphQL
- Vue.js, with comfort working in an established, maturing codebase rather than greenfield
- Experience with hub-like systems that integrate many external services (e.g. payments, calendars, access control), rather than single-purpose apps
- Hands-on experience with agentic / LLM application patterns: multi-step orchestration, tool use, prompt and context management
- Experience evaluating and monitoring AI quality (evals, tracing, accuracy testing)
- AWS (Bedrock, ECS), containerization, and CI/CD
Bonus
- Data engineering exposure (ETL, transformations, larger datasets)
- Microservices and event-driven architectures
- Prior B2B SaaS experience
- Deliver full-stack features across backend and frontend in a Jira-based Agile sprint, taking ownership of your tickets, with the opportunity to grow into broader technical-design decisions over time
- Build AI-powered features that deliver meaningful value to our customers
- Develop the integrations and full-stack experiences that bring AI capabilities into an intuitive UI, including some data work where needed
- Design and evolve APIs that our iOS and Android apps depend on, with care for backward compatibility across releases
- Use Claude and other AI tools as a daily accelerator and debugger in your own engineering
- Partner with our Tech Lead on evaluation and monitoring that keeps AI feature quality high
- Contribute to ongoing improvements to our platform and architecture
- Work cross-functionally with Product and Design, shaping technical direction for customer impact, and contribute to planning and estimation
- Raise the bar on quality: grow test coverage, review code, support QA and release-candidate readiness, and validate acceptance locally and on our QA environment
- Engage in deep-dive investigations and rare edge case discovery across a large client base
- Participate in sprint rituals
