Project

The Woodfibre LNG Project is located approximately 7 km west-southwest of Squamish, British Columbia. It involves the construction and operation of a liquefied natural gas (LNG) export facility on the previous Woodfibre pulp mill site, which would have a storage capacity of 250,000 m3 and would produce approximately 2.1 million tons per year of LNG.

Woodfibre LNG Limited is a privately held Canadian company based in Vancouver and a subsidiary of Pacific Energy Corporation Limited.

Position

We are seeking a highly motivated Senior Accountant to join our finance team and support the organization through its transition from construction to operations. This role offers a unique opportunity to combine financial planning & analysis (FP&A), business partnering, and financial reporting within a dynamic, large-scale project environment.

A key focus of the role will be contributing to the development of the company's first 5-year operating budget and long-range financial plan, working closely with cross-functional teams to support operational readiness and informed decision-making.

Key Responsibilities

The successful applicant will:

Business Partnering

  • Collaborate with operations, project, procurement, and corporate teams to support financial decision-making.
  • Provide insights into cost drivers, operational performance, and key business risks.
  • Translate financial data into clear, actionable recommendations.

Financial Planning & Analysis

  • Support development of the company's initial 5-year operating budget.
  • Build and maintain financial models to support planning and forecasting.
  • Prepare budgets, forecasts, and variance analysis.
  • Perform scenario and sensitivity analysis to support planning decisions.

Management Reporting

  • Prepare and deliver regular financial reporting packages for local and international stakeholders.
  • Provide clear commentary on results, trends, and drivers of performance.
  • Support continuous improvement of reporting tools and outputs.

Financial Reporting & Controls

  • Support preparation of IFRS financial statements and disclosures.
  • Contribute to the month-end and quarter-end close process, including:
    • Preparing and reviewing journal entries.
    • Performing account reconciliations and variance analysis.
    • Supporting timely and accurate close deliverables.
  • Collaborate with the overseas shared services center to coordinate close activities, review deliverables for accuracy and completeness, and resolve issues on a timely basis.
  • Assist with analysis of financial results to ensure accuracy and completeness of reported information.
  • Support external audit processes, including preparation of working papers and coordination of audit requests.
  • Contribute to the development and enhancement of accounting policies, processes, and internal controls.
  • Assist in establishing robust financial reporting processes in preparation for operations.

Requirements

Required Experience

  • Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, or related field.
  • CPA designation.
  • 4–7 years of relevant experience in accounting and/or financial analysis, preferably in Oil & Gas, Mining, Construction, or Utilities.
  • Experience with budgeting, forecasting, and financial modeling.
  • Exposure to IFRS reporting and audit processes.
  • Strong Excel and analytical skills.
  • Experience with ERP systems (e.g., SAP S/4HANA) is an asset.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with non-finance stakeholders in a cross-functional environment.

Benefits

Salary range: CAD 90,000 - 120,000/yr
