The Senior Cloud Architect, Engineer will provide strategic leadership and technical expertise in designing, implementing, and managing enterprise-scale DevOps solutions. This role combines deep expertise in Microsoft Azure DevOps (ADO) with a broad knowledge of open-source DevOps tools and practices. The Senior Architect will define and champion the organization's DevOps strategy to enable rapid, reliable, and secure software delivery, while fostering a culture of collaboration, automation, and continuous improvement.
This individual will architect scalable cloud-native solutions, lead the development of reusable infrastructure, CI/CD pipelines, and automation frameworks, and provide mentorship and technical leadership to a team of DevOps engineers.
Key Responsibilities:
- DevOps Strategy & Leadership: Define and communicate the organization's DevOps vision, strategy, and roadmap, aligning with business priorities and industry trends.
- Architecture & Design: Architect complex, secure, and scalable DevOps solutions using Azure DevOps (ADO) and a wide range of open-source tools. Establish standards, reference architectures, and best practices.
- CI/CD Optimization: Lead the design and optimization of CI/CD pipelines for diverse application types (microservices, web apps, data pipelines) across multi-cloud, hybrid, and on-premises environments.
- Infrastructure as Code (IaC): Drive adoption of IaC using Terraform (and other tools such as ARM Templates or CloudFormation) to ensure consistent, automated infrastructure provisioning and management.
- Configuration Management: Implement and manage configuration practices with tools such as Ansible, Chef, or Puppet to ensure compliance and consistency.
- Monitoring & Observability: Define and implement monitoring and logging solutions (Prometheus, Grafana, ELK Stack, Azure Monitor, Application Insights) for proactive issue detection and resolution.
- DevSecOps & Security: Integrate security practices into the DevOps pipeline, including static code analysis, vulnerability scanning, and automated security testing.
- Automation & Toolchain: Automate all aspects of the software delivery lifecycle, and evaluate and integrate new DevOps tools into the existing ecosystem.
- Collaboration & Culture: Promote a DevOps culture by fostering strong collaboration between development, operations, and security teams.
- Leadership & Mentorship: Provide technical leadership and mentorship to DevOps engineers and developers, building organizational capability.
- Compliance: Ensure DevOps practices and solutions adhere to relevant regulations and industry standards (e.g., SOC 2, PCI DSS, GDPR).
- Innovation & Problem-Solving: Proactively resolve complex technical challenges and drive innovation through adoption of emerging tools and practices.
Requirements
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related discipline.
- 10+ years of experience in DevOps engineering or architecture, with a significant focus on Azure DevOps (ADO) and open-source DevOps ecosystems.
- Expert-level knowledge of Azure DevOps (ADO): Pipelines, Boards, Repos, Artifacts, and Test Plans.
- Deep knowledge of DevOps principles, practices, and frameworks (Agile, Lean, Scrum, Kanban).
- Extensive hands-on experience with open-source DevOps tools, including:
- IaC: Terraform, ARM Templates, CloudFormation
- Configuration Management: Ansible, Chef, Puppet
- Containerization: Docker, Kubernetes
- Monitoring & Logging: Prometheus, Grafana, ELK Stack, Azure Monitor, Application Insights
- Security: SonarQube, Snyk, Aqua Security
- Proficiency in scripting languages (Python, Bash, PowerShell).
- Strong understanding of cloud platforms (Azure, AWS, GCP).
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, and presentation skills with the ability to engage stakeholders at all levels.
- Proven leadership and mentorship experience within technical teams.
- Relevant certifications (e.g., Azure DevOps Engineer Expert, AWS Certified DevOps Engineer) strongly preferred.
- Experience implementing DevSecOps practices considered a significant asset. .
