Job Title: Technical Lead (Data & AWS) Location: Canada Job Summary: We are seeking a seasoned and dynamic Technical Lead to guide our engineering team in building and scaling robust data-driven solutions on Amazon Web Services (AWS). This role is a blend of hands-on technical contribution, architectural design, and team leadership. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in data engineering, a deep understanding of the AWS ecosystem, and a proven ability to mentor engineers and drive projects from concept to completion.
Key Responsibilities· Technical Leadership & Mentorship: o Lead a team of talented engineers, providing technical guidance, code reviews, and mentorship to foster their growth and maintain high-quality standards.o Drive project execution by defining technical scope, setting clear milestones, and ensuring timely delivery.o Act as a subject matter expert for data engineering and AWS, resolving complex technical challenges.· Architecture & Design: o Design and develop scalable, resilient, and cost-effective data solutions on AWS.o Define and enforce best practices for data modeling, ETL/ELT pipelines, and data storage.o Collaborate with product managers and stakeholders to translate business requirements into technical architectures.· Hands-On Development: o Write clean, efficient, and well-documented code for critical components of our data platform.o Develop and maintain automated CI/CD pipelines for data applications.· AWS & Data Expertise: o Architect and implement solutions using a wide range of AWS services (e.g., S3, Redshift, EMR, Glue, Lambda, and SageMaker).o Ensure data security, governance, and compliance within the AWS environment.o Monitor system performance and optimize data pipelines for efficiency and scalability.
Required Qualifications· Experience: o 5-7+ years of experience in software development, with a minimum of 2 years in a leadership or technical lead role.o Proven experience with data engineering principles, including data modeling, warehousing, and ETL/ELT processes.o Extensive hands-on experience designing and building solutions on the AWS platform.· Technical Skills: o Expert-level knowledge of SQL and experience with at least one data warehouse (e.g., AWS Redshift, Snowflake).o Deep understanding of AWS data services (e.g., S3, Glue, Athena, EMR).o Experience with CI/CD tools (e.g., Jenkins, GitLab CI).o Familiarity with containerization (Docker, Kubernetes).· Soft Skills: o Excellent leadership and communication skills, with the ability to articulate technical concepts clearly to both technical and non-technical audiences.o Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.o Proven ability to thrive in a fast-paced, collaborative, and agile environment.
