Responsibilities:
- Supervise the preparation of accurate and timely consolidated financial statements by coordinating inputs from accounting staff and various departments.
- Lead the corporate and indirect tax compliance and reporting processes, including reviewing filings and ensuring adherence to internal controls.
- Monitor the accuracy and timeliness of tax filings to prevent penalties, interest, or non-compliance issues.
- Serve as the primary point of contact for tax-related inquiries from internal stakeholders, external auditors, and government authorities.
- Provide leadership in tax audit support, including preparation of audit-ready documentation and proactive risk mitigation strategies.
- Evaluate audit outcomes, assess tax impacts, and supervise the resolution of issues raised by the Canada Revenue Agency (CRA).
- Guide tax planning and strategic advisory initiatives in collaboration with external consultants and senior leadership, aimed at optimizing tax efficiency.
- Oversee tax provisioning activities, including calculating tax estimates and reconciling accounts for accurate financial reporting.
- Ensure strong internal controls and compliance with accounting standards and company policies across tax and financial reporting activities.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field required; CPA designation preferred.
- Minimum of 5+ years of progressive experience in accounting or tax roles, including 1–2 years in a supervisory or team lead capacity.
- Demonstrated ability to supervise, mentor, and motivate team members, and to manage workflows across multiple functions.
- In-depth knowledge of Canadian corporate and indirect tax regulations (HST/GST).
- Ability to assess complex tax scenarios, provide strategic recommendations, and identify areas for process improvement.
- Exceptional attention to detail, ability to meet deadlines, and manage multiple priorities effectively.
- Up-to-date understanding of CRA requirements and evolving tax laws at the federal and provincial levels.
