About The Role

As a Dev Manager at Sadie, you will lead the engineering organization that delivers our AI powered call-receptionist platform for restaurants. Your mission is to foster a healthy, high-performing development culture, orchestrate the full software delivery life cycle from roadmap planning alongside leadership through release and post production monitoring and ensure our solutions are scalable, and secure. You will combine strong technical acumen with empathetic people leadership to guide multiple cross-functional squads, align technical strategy with product goals, and champion continuous improvement across processes, tooling, and code quality.

What You'll Do

People & Team Leadership

  • Help Hire, onboard, mentor, and retain high-calibre engineers; conduct regular 1-on-1s and career-growth planning.
  • Foster a culture of ownership, and continuous learning.

Delivery & Process Ownership

  • Own helping with sprint planning, backlog grooming, and release management, ensuring predictable, high-quality output.
  • Track velocity and capacity, optimize workflows, and champion lean/agile best practices.

Internal Operational Systems

  • Build, and maintain the tooling and integrations that drive customer support, billing, onboarding, and account-management workflows (e.g., Intercom, Stripe, subscription management, usage metering).
  • Partner with Support and Finance leads to translate process pain points into elegant, automated solutions, instrument KPIs (CSAT, first-reply time, invoice accuracy), and iterate for continuous improvement.

Technical Oversight

  • Help guide architectural decisions for our TypeScript / Next.js frontend, Python services, and AWS infrastructure (Lambda, ECS, API Gateway, CloudWatch, etc.).
  • Lead code-review standards, enforce automated testing (unit, integration, e2e), and uphold SOC 2 requirements.

Operational Excellence & DevOps

  • Evolve CI/CD pipelines, observability dashboards (Sentry, CloudWatch), and on-call rotations to ensure 99.9 % uptime.
  • Champion performance, cost-optimization, and security hardening across services.

Strategic Planning & Stakeholder Communication

  • Provide clear status updates, KPIs, and risk assessments to executives and board-level stakeholders.
  • Contribute to long-term product and platform strategy, capacity planning, and budget management.

What You Bring

  • Leadership Experience: 3 + years managing software-engineering teams, preferably in fast-paced startups or SaaS environments.
  • Technical Depth: Hands-on background with modern web stacks (TypeScript/React/Next.js), cloud architecture (AWS), and microservices.
  • Process Mastery: Track record of implementing and refining agile/Scrum or Kanban frameworks that balance speed with quality.
  • Operational Systems Fluency: Proven success automating support, billing, or similar back-office workflows via SaaS integrations and custom tooling.
  • Communication Skills: Ability to translate complex technical concepts for non-technical audiences and inspire cross-team alignment.
  • Analytical & Strategic Thinking: Data-driven approach to prioritization, resource allocation, and continuous improvement.
  • Mentorship & Empathy: Passion for coaching engineers, giving actionable feedback, and building inclusive, high-trust teams.
  • Adaptability: Comfort navigating ambiguity and changing priorities inherent to a high-growth startup.

Bonus Points For

  • Experience with AI products, speech technology, voice agents
  • Prior stewardship of SOC 2, PCI-DSS, or other compliance initiatives.
  • DevOps chops (Terraform, Kubernetes, GitHub Actions) and performance-tuning expertise.
  • Familiarity with observability stacks (OpenTelemetry, Datadog) and cost-optimization strategies.
