Position Summary:
The NPI & MRO Buyer plays a critical role in supporting and executing buying strategies to reduce costs, reduce lead times, improve supplier service and assure an effective procurement process. This position is ideal for a procurement professional with a basic understanding of electromechanical components, MRO, sourcing, negotiation, cost structure and supply chain management. This role will collaborate with suppliers and internal departments to meet delivery and production expectations, handle inventory levels, and provide procurement to support the needs of the business.
Specific Duties:
- Coordinate materials to support new product development and transition into production.
- Negotiate pricing and contribute to cost-saving initiatives.
- Handle purchasing tasks related to Engineering Change Orders (ECOs).
- Oversee consignment and buy and sell inventory, collaborating with Tier 1 suppliers.
- Forecast component needs and manage inventory as part of the supply chain strategy.
- Negotiate with suppliers to secure optimal pricing and favorable contract terms.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with key commodity suppliers to ensure reliable support.
- Define and implement planning parameters to manage inventory and meet production demands.
- Identify and recommend actions for obsolete or slow-moving inventory.
- Plan, procure, and expedite materials from assigned suppliers to fulfill MRO and production requirements.
- Support alignment of NPI schedule with NPI manufacturing lead and ensure material alignment for each build.
- Oversight of all PO's needed to support material supply for NPI builds and engineering testing as needed.
- Sample shipment coordination with Engineering and Logistics for NPI products.
- Attend calls in multiple time zones to support communication with suppliers, company head offices and factories.
- Other duties as required.
Requirements
- Equivalent combination of education and knowledge in Purchasing or Supply Chain, with at least 5 years of proven work experience.
- Relevant industry experience, preferably in electronics.
- Excellent interpersonal and strong communication skills.
- Strong cross functional project management skills and attention to detail.
- Proficient organizational and time management skills with the ability to meet deadlines and work with urgency.
- Demonstrates solid decision making and problem-solving skills.
- Proficiency with MS Office applications and Outlook.
- ERP experience, specific Sage or SAP would be beneficial.
- Strong understanding of the English language, other languages would be beneficial.
- Previous experience with oversees suppliers.

Benefits
Base Salary: $63,000 - $74,000 per year plus bonus.
The compensation offered will be determined by experience, qualifications, knowledge, and skills.
