POSITION SUMMARY

At New Flyer, you'll play a key role in building industry-leading transit buses. As a CNC Press Brake Operator, you'll be part of our Machine Shop team, responsible for the full cycle of precision fabrication—configuring machines, setting up and fine-tuning operations, and ensuring top-quality production. You'll work with advanced equipment, including press brakes, flat sheet lasers, shears, tube lasers, and tube benders, to produce high-quality metal components that keep our buses on the road.

We're looking for operators who don't just run machines—they know how to get the most out of them. If you're proactive, detail-oriented, and passionate about quality, this is your opportunity to thrive in a fast-paced, collaborative environment.

WHY JOIN OUR TEAM:
  • Competitive wages and a comprehensive benefits package.
  • A continuous learning environment.
  • Ability to advance your career with a growing company.
  • NFI Group has been named a Manitoba Top Employer for 2020 and this is the tenth since the competition was established in 2007.
  • Employee social committee organizes numerous events throughout the year, including summer barbecues, holiday festivities, sporting events and tournaments, and much more.
  • Ongoing employee development through a variety of in-house training initiatives along with tuition subsidies for courses at outside institutions.
WHAT YOU WILL DO:
  • Operate and set up CNC press brakes, shears, and punches to shape and form metal parts with precision.
  • Select and install appropriate punches and dies based on material specifications.
  • Load programs, configure machine settings, and fine-tune operations to ensure optimal performance.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve fabrication issues such as incorrect bends, material inconsistencies, or tool wear.
  • Read and interpret blueprints, CAD drawings, and process sheets to ensure components meet exact specifications.
  • Use advanced measuring tools (calipers, protractors, tape measures) to verify dimensions and tolerances.
  • Perform secondary operations such as sawing, laser cutting, and tube bending as needed.
  • Take ownership of your work—ensuring first-time quality, maintaining an organized workspace, and proactively solving problems before they impact production.
  • Follow all safety protocols and support a culture of continuous improvement.
WHAT YOU NEED TO BE SUCCESFUL:
  • 2+ years of experience operating and programming CNC press brakes (Cincinnati, Accurpress, or similar).
  • Proficiency with fabrication equipment such as:
    • Press brakes
    • Flat sheet lasers
    • Tube lasers
    • Shears
    • Tube benders
    • Shears and Punches.
  • Strong knowledge of CNC machine operation, sheet metal fabrication, and metal forming processes.
  • Proficiency in tooling setup, bend allowances, and material properties (aluminum, stainless steel, steel).
  • Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, blueprints, and work within tight tolerances.
  • Skilled in using precision measuring instruments (calipers, micrometers, tape measures).
  • Proven ability to troubleshoot and optimize machine performance for first-time quality.
  • Strong problem-solving mindset and ability to train or mentor less experienced operators (a plus).
