Peter Lucas Project Management is hiring a Mill Engineer to support one of our key industrial clients in Saskatchewan. This is a full-time, site-based role ideal for an experienced engineer with a strong background in mill operations or heavy industrial facilities.

Start Date:

  • Flexible, with a targeted start in late August 2025
  • 2 weeks in 2 weeks out Rotation.

Key Responsibilities:

    • Provide engineering support to mill operations, with a focus on reliability, performance, and safety
    • Analyze operational data to troubleshoot process issues and support root cause analysis
    • Identify and implement process and infrastructure improvements in collaboration with operations, maintenance, and HSE teams
    • Participate in and contribute to Management of Change (MOC) and Process Hazard Analysis (PHA) activities
    • Conduct formal risk assessments for new designs and operational changes
    • Ensure compliance with all applicable industry codes, regulations, standards, and engineering best practices
    • Provide technical oversight, coaching, and guidance to support operational teams
    • Plan and execute small to medium-sized, multidisciplinary projects from conception through completion
    • Prepare detailed designs and technical specifications for upgrades, repairs, and capital improvements
    • Collaborate with tradespeople, operators, subject matter experts, and other engineering disciplines to address technical challenges and drive operational excellence
    • Identify improvement opportunities and develop project proposals for budgeting and execution
    • Recommend and implement engineering procedures and process enhancements
    • Support and contribute to a culture of continuous improvement and operational excellence
    • Actively participate in safety initiatives, including safety huddles, safe work plans (SWPs), and site safety activities

Requirements

  • Minimum 5 years of experience working in an industrial setting.
  • Bachelor's degree in Chemical or Process Engineering from a recognized university.
  • A bachelor's degree in Mechanical or Industrial Engineering may also be considered with suitable industrial and project experience.
  • Must be registered or eligible for registration as a Professional Engineer or Engineer-in-Training in Saskatchewan (APEGS).
  • Preference given to those with experience working at an industrial facility.
  • Previous experience working within MOC programs would be considered an asset.
  • Experience with Process Hazard Analysis (PHA) is considered an asset.
  • Working knowledge of SAP is considered an asset.
  • Knowledge of codes, standards and best engineering practices as applied to mining and milling applications is considered an asset.
