Park Paving Ltd. has been locally owned and operated for 50 years as one of the largest road construction contractors in Edmonton, and we are looking to add a Skilled Utility Labourer / Driver for our FAC crew who is looking to establish a career in road construction.
This is a seasonal position that offers a competitive wage with benefits.
***This position will be a hybrid of driving and labouring duties. ***
Primary duties will include but are not limited to:
Labouring:
- Digging, shoveling, raking, hammering pins, and sweeping
- Operating small compaction gear such as jumping jacks, tampers, and small rollers
- Using power tools such as concrete chop saws, jackhammers, pressure washers, and power brooms
- Placing and compacting of construction materials (such as: gravel, soil cement, asphalt, cold mix, black dirt, sod, and other materials)
- Removal of concrete rubble and other debris from construction sites
- Efficiently move construction materials (such as: the dumping, placing, and loading of material into trucks)
- Cleaning debris off roadways, landscaping, sidewalks, and curbs by hand
- Reading and measuring distances from reference points. Measuring off string lines, grade markers, and hubs to locate boundaries and to verify construction specifications
- Assisting in bucket and attachment changes on heavy equipment
- Raising and lowering catch basins, manholes, and water valves
- Flagging in high traffic areas
- Spotting of equipment in congested areas
- Attaching water meters to fire hydrants and filling water tanks
- Assisting with worksite barricade/signage set ups and maintenance
- Aiding with cargo/equipment securement on vehicles and trailers
- Maintaining a clean and organized worksite free of obstructions and hazards
- Landscaping restoration
Driving:
- Truck will be picked up from the shop and driven to site daily.
- Completing pre-trip and preventative maintenance on your assigned truck and trailer.
- Continuously monitor all fluid levels, vehicle operation and handling, and report and defects to your supervisor.
- Must be able to load/secure/drive with a trailer safely.
- Hauling construction materials to and from sites using a a 3 Ton Truck
Requirements
- Experience Labouring
- Class 5 driver's license with an Air Brakes (Q) endorsement.
- Clean Driver's Abstract
- Experience driving a 3 Ton Truck with a trailer
- Willingness to work as a labourer as well as drive a 3-ton truck.
- Willingness to pick up and drop off the truck from the shop daily.
