POSITION SUMMARY

We are seeking a strategic, detail-oriented communications professional to lead external communications for New Flyer and MCI (public sector). This role supports key initiatives across Sales and Marketing, Infrastructure Solutions, NFI Connect, and the Vehicle Innovation Center.

Responsibilities include developing and executing communications strategies, crafting content for press releases, marketing materials, proposals, government relations, and crisis communications, while ensuring consistent, error-free messaging across all channels. As the communications lead within the marketing team, this role ensures alignment with company goals and adherence to the NFI Style Guide.
WHAT YOU WILL DO:

  • Develop and execute communications plans to deliver impactful content; write press releases, speeches, editorials, fact sheets, and marketing materials
  • Serve as the marketing team's communications expert by ensuring clear, compelling, and error free content that aligns with the NFI Style Guide
  • Lead the media release process for New Flyer and MCI (public sector), including drafting impactful press releases, managing approvals, fact-checking, and reporting on placements using analytics. Support NFI-wide press efforts as needed
  • Support the sales team in developing compelling content for Request for Proposals (RFPs) that are fact-filled, persuasive and communicate our value propositions in an effort to win new business.
  • Create relevant and impactful copy about NFI, New Flyer, and MCI (public sector) product, services and special initiatives for website, video, e-newsletters, advertisements, presentations, and brochures
  • Preparing inspiring and effective abstracts and speeches for speaking engagements at industry events; translate the ideas, objectives, position, and philosophy of the speaker into messaging that relates to the topic, speaker, and audience.
  • Craft editorials and articles for industry publications on a variety of topics; plan, research, and collaborate with colleagues to gather information to tell our stories in a way that is informative and engaging, reflects our position, and uses our brand voice
  • Create persuasive and effective presentations that provides information, showcases our product and services, and communicates a compelling story. Assess and evaluate existing presentations and recommend improvements.
  • Collaboratively work with Director of Marketing & Public Affairs on development of government relations/public affairs materials and communications through drafting and proofing content
  • Create technical summaries (Sales Information Bulletins or SIBs) about the components of our busses and coaches; collaborate with subject matter experts to translate complex and technical information into clear and concise features and benefits. Also manage the digital SIB library, ensuring that it is up to date with the latest technology by collaborating with the sales team.
  • Manage the marketing review process for Control Change Board customer-facing presentations.

Requirements

  • Post-secondary degree in communications, public relations, marketing, journalism, or a related field from an accredited post-secondary educational institution; an equivalent combination of relevant training and experience may be considered
  • Minimum 2 years' experience in writing, communications, and public relations with demonstrated experience leading communication initiatives in a fast-paced environment
  • Experienced in writing across all media platforms and for a variety of audience for both internal and external communications
  • Ability to work under pressure, adaptable to changing priorities
  • Understands the nuances of communicating with, to, and between a variety of teams/stakeholders and executive levels
  • Proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, InDesign and Illustrator) considered an asset but not required
  • Knowledge of bus manufacturing or transit industry considered an asset
  • Familiarity with AP and other style guides would be considered an asset
