The Opportunity:

We're looking for a Manager, Portfolio Construction, to join our Asset Management Distribution team in support of the NEI and MAP Sales team, Responsible Investing & ESG Services team and their stakeholders.

Reporting to the Senior Director, Sales and Digital Enablement, the Manager, Portfolio Construction, will form a critical conduit between the MAP and NEI Sales teams, working closely with the retail sales team members to provide proactive and reactive support for NEI and MAP products. You will enable the sales teams by lending your consulting and analysis expertise on investment proposals, identify and publish actionable sales ideas supported by competitive analysis, and provide analytics and data support to the other CIG team members.

The Manager, Portfolio Construction will be an integral part of NEI's Distribution team, playing a critical role in helping the sales and distribution team to drive asset growth opportunities. This role will work closely with a number of teams including Product Management, Marketing and Investment Management to support our distribution initiatives.

What your day looks like:

  • Provide regular, proactive insights and analysis of NEI and MAP funds and portfolios to help the sales teams better position our products against competitors
  • Working collaboratively with your Client Insight Group colleagues to support their data needs using Morningstar Direct and/or Capintel
  • Responsible for developing and/or reviewing complex portfolio proposals and assisting the teams with deeper analysis to help close business
  • In support of wholesaler sales efforts, engage with advisors to walk through fund proposals and illustrations that better position NEI and MAP products against competitors
  • Act as the business owner for Capintel Proposal Builder tool, soliciting feedback from sales to support the continuous improvement of the Capintel tool and providing onboarding training to new sales team members
  • Support senior sales leadership by providing data and insights on the volume and the nature of sales team enquiries, proposals and trends
  • Participate in internal sales team meetings and conferences to provide sales insights and analysis for existing products and new product launches

Requirements

Your experience and skills:

  • Post-secondary degree/diploma in Finance, Business, Sustainability, Communications, Sales or a combination of these and related fields is preferred
  • Preference will be given to candidates who have an MBA, CFA, Masters of Sustainability or related field
  • 2+ years' experience in responsible or impact investing or similar is beneficial
  • 5+ years' experience in the investment advice business either within a sales or client portfolio management role
  • Superior skills in relationship building, analysis, research, written and verbal communication and presenting complex ideas in a compelling and impactful way
  • Highly organized and able to maintain multiple relationships both internally and externally
  • The ability to self-start and support key initiatives tied directly to the organization's core value proposition
  • Experience in an organization that offers RI solutions is an asset
  • Fluent communication skills in English are required and bilingual skills in French are an asset

Salary

This position is posted with an expected salary range of $83,000 - $100,000 CAD annually. Individual compensation packages are based on various factors unique to each candidate and the requirements of the position.
