Job Summary:
We are seeking a highly skilled and certified Level 2 CWB Welding Inspector to join our QA/QC team. The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring that all welding processes and final products comply with relevant standards, codes, and client specifications. This role requires a detail-oriented individual with strong analytical skills, proficiency in Excel, and a commitment to maintaining the highest quality standards.
Key Responsibilities:
- Perform inspections of welds and welded components to ensure compliance with CSA W59, CSA W47.1, and project-specific requirements.
- Conduct visual inspections (VT) and oversee non-destructive testing (NDT) methods such as magnetic particle testing (MT), ultrasonic testing (UT), or radiographic testing (RT) when 3rd party NDE is required.
- Review drawings to ensure adherence to CWB standards, and client standards.
- Maintain detailed inspection records, reports, and documentation for audits and client submissions.
- Collaborate with production teams to address and resolve welding-related quality issues.
- Monitor and enforce compliance with safety regulations and quality standards in fabrication facilities.
- Utilize Excel to analyze data, prepare reports, and track quality metrics.
- Provide training and guidance to welders and other team members on quality and compliance standards as needed.
Requirements
Qualifications and Requirements:
- Level 2 CWB Welding Inspector Certification (required).
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, including data analysis, reporting, and chart creation.
- Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in welding inspection or a related field.
- In-depth knowledge of welding processes, codes, and standards (e.g., CSA W59, CSA W47.1).
- Strong attention to detail and excellent problem-solving skills.
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills to work with cross-functional teams.
- Ability to interpret technical drawings, blueprints, and welding symbols.
- Familiarity with non-destructive testing (NDT) methods and equipment.
- Commitment to safety and quality assurance principles.
Preferred Skills:
- Experience with other QA/QC tools and software.
- Leadership experience or the ability to train and mentor team members.
Work Environment:
- Combination of office and shop floor.
- May require standing, walking, or working in confined spaces for extended periods.
