49 Solutions is seeking an experienced Senior Project Manager to bid on a RFP at the Canadian Nuclear Safety Commission. The successful candidate will lead a variety of projects, driving them from initiation through to completion while ensuring compliance with the highest standards of quality and efficiency.
As a Senior Project Manager, you will be responsible for managing project scope, resources, timelines, and budgets, collaborating with cross-functional teams, and communicating effectively with stakeholders at all levels. Your leadership will ensure that projects meet strategic goals and contribute to the overall success of the organization.
Requirements
Minimum RequirementsMUST HOLD A VALID RELIABILITY CLEARANCE OR HIGHER TO APPLY
M1. Senior Project Management Experience
You must meet one of the following:
- Have 10+ years of experience as a Project Manager; or
- Have 5+ years of experience as a Project Manager and hold a recognized certification such as PMP or PRINCE2.
M2. IM/IT Project Leadership Experience
You have led at least two (2) IM/IT projects as a Senior Project Manager within the past 8 years, involving transformation initiatives with IM/IT services and project delivery teams.
M3. IT-Enabled Transformation Project Experience
You have managed two (2) IT-enabled transformation projects in the last 10 years that each:
- Were valued at $1M+,
- Lasted at least 6 months, and
- Impacted at least 500 employees.
In these projects, you performed at least 6 of the following:
- Managed project team deliverables.
- Coordinated with multiple groups (e.g., IT Security, HR).
- Oversaw implementation, startup, and capacity planning.
- Defined problem statements and implementation plans.
- Defined/documented project scope, budget, and roles.
- Provided updates on timelines and deliverables.
- Resolved project issues and recommended solutions.
- Created charts/diagrams for planning or analysis.
- Used a project gating process to meet approvals.
- Obtained formal milestone approvals.
M4. Digital Transformation Experience in Alignment with the GoC Directive
You have accumulated at least 36 months of experience (since April 2019) managing digital transformation projects aligned with the Directive on the Management of Projects and Programmes.
These projects must have:
- Been valued at $1M+, or
- Lasted at least 12 months, or
- Impacted 500+ employees or stakeholders.
In the projects mentioned, you must have performed at least 4 of the following:
- Established/followed a governance structure aligned with GoC priorities.
- Oversaw the full lifecycle using a GC gating process.
- Engaged stakeholders and secured executive buy-in.
- Conducted risk assessments aligned with the Directive.
- Tracked and reported project performance.
- Delivered outputs aligned with GC standards.
R1. Stakeholder Management Experience
You have experience 181+ months managing projects involving two or more internal stakeholder groups or business branches, where you:
- Established deadlines and deliverables through consultation.
- Negotiated changes to meet evolving needs.
- Resolved conflicting priorities.
R2. Experience with Gated Project Management Frameworks
You have 121+ months managing projects that followed a formal project gating process (e.g., GoC's or PMI's), including:
- Use of lifecycle stages and milestone approvals.
- Producing and managing deliverables per stage.
- Navigating formal governance and documentation.
R3. Project Governance and Decision Support
In the last 60 months, you have participated in project governance activities for 49+ months such as:
- Leading presentations, formal communications, and updates.
- Conducting risk assessments and options analyses.
- Supporting executive-level decision-making.
R4. Methodology Tailoring Across Agile, Traditional, and Hybrid
You have 121+ months experience tailoring project management approaches based on context, with hands-on experience using:
- Agile methods (e.g., Scrum, Kanban)
- Traditional/Waterfall methods
- Hybrid models (combining agile and traditional)
You can explain when and why each was used and what outcomes were achieved.
R5. Agile Project Management Certification (Optional but Preferred)
You have any valid recognized agile certification such as:
- LeSS (Large-Scale Scrum)
- SAFe (Scaled Agile Framework)
- Nexus
- Disciplined Agile
- etc...
