Phasor Engineering is a dynamic North America based company specializing in engineering, design, panel fabrication, and testing/commissioning of high voltage electrical facilities. Our focus is to incorporate the latest technological advances to provide the most cost-effective and efficient solutions to power system engineering. This focus allows us to be involved in a diverse range of projects from conceptual engineering through to commissioning and startup.

We are currently seeking a highly motivated and experienced Payroll Specialist to join our team on a full-time basis. This role will be based out of our Calgary, AB, office.

If you are an excellent communicator and skilled problem-solver with strong attention to detail, we offer a dynamic work environment where you will be continuously challenged in all aspects of the testing and commissioning process. We will be going through an ERP implementation (JD Edwards) later this year, so this person would be a part of the readiness and implementation plan This person will also would help drive the implementation.

Responsibilities:

· Preparation of full cycle payroll which includes review and balancing of all payroll related allocations (i.e. rates of pay, deductions, hours of work, burdens, statutory remittances, etc.).

· Completes weekly Canadian and US Payroll process.

· Ensures all payroll controls are in place to maintain payroll process integrity and confidentiality and improves and implements new processes and procedures as needed.

· Completes year-end payroll activities including the preparation and filing of T4s, W-2s, and other required documentation.

· Own the payroll calendar and ensure all deliverables are met without exception.

· Ensure payroll for all hourly paid and salaried staff is processed accurately and in a timely manner using the time and attendance and payroll systems in accordance with payroll policies and procedures

· Audits work completed to ensure accuracy and may provide backup to senior payroll coordinator as required.

· Reviews internal policies, procedures and process, and identifies and assists with process improvements and/or district initiatives.

Qualifications:

  • Knowledge of the Microsoft Office software suite of programs.
  • Designated Payroll Professional would be an asset.
  • 5 years+ of payroll experience handling full cycle payroll from beginning to end multi-province Canadian payroll and multi-state US payroll.
  • Demonstrates the ability to handle people tactfully and diplomatically, maintaining discretion with confidential information.
  • Advanced verbal and written communication skills with the ability to negotiate and present ideas and content that influence favorable outcomes.
  • Experience in collaborating with accounting, finance, and human resources teams to ensure employees are paid on time, with accuracy and aligns with commitment to service delivery
  • Experience with preparation, reconciliation and submission of monthly, quarterly, and annual
  • Proficiency with ERP accounting systems (JD Edwards would be an asset)
  • Advanced skills using Microsoft Office Suite and internal operating systems.
