The Manager, Kitchen & Bar Design will collaborate closely with our culinary and bar leaders to drive innovation while upholding our time-tested standards. Reporting directly to the Director of Construction, they will play a pivotal role in ensuring JOEY and LOCAL Public Eatery restaurants remain at the forefront of excellence.

Responsibilities

  • Pre-Development (Project Preparation):
  • Responsible for maintaining specifications for the Kitchen and Bar projects.
  • Oversee Kitchen and Bar construction development.
  • Manage the process development.
  • Handle the procurement of test equipment through vendors.
  • Maintain relationships and contracts with KEC vendors outside of project cycles.
  • Evaluate and vet new vendors as necessary.
  • Tradeshow Coordination:
  • Coordinate participation in NAFM and NRA tradeshows (alternating years).
  • Assist with vendor financial support.
  • Organize attendance for Culinary/Bar/Ops personnel.
  • Kitchen & Bar Project Development Support:
  • Engage in space planning for floor plan development.
  • Contribute to the development and review of tenders for Kitchen and Bar scopes.
  • Review shop drawings and drawings from consultants and interior designers.
  • Ensure quality control on owner-directed deliverables, both internal and external.
  • Identify and ensure the repetition of best practices from project to project.
  • Identify and prevent the repetition of issues from project to project.
  • Create and implement documentation for drawing and construction best practices.
  • Conduct construction progress reviews as necessary.
  • Conduct site visits and prepare Box Walk reports.
  • Verify schedules and provide support during project handover as needed.

Wage Range

$80,000-$130,000 / year

Requirements

  • 5+ years' experience in culinary, restaurant design, or kitchen equipment contracting.
  • Experience with AutoCad is preferred.
  • Advance knowledge and experience working with MS365 required.
  • Experience with MS Project preferred
  • Post-Secondary Education in Construction or Design related programs (preferred but not required)
  • Exceptional communication skills both verbal and written
  • A natural problem solver, thinking outside the box to execute reasonable solutions while maintaining schedule and budget
  • Strong attention to detail and process flow
  • Highly organized and self-motivated in planning and performance control
  • High performer under stress and high-pressure situations.
  • Takes ownership and initiative to execute a multitude of successful projects simultaneously.
  • Travel to US and Canada required.
  • This is an in-office role based in our head office in Vancouver, BC.
