The Production Lead Hand oversee production and maintains quality standards of our safety products. As a Production Lead Hand, the responsibilities involve overseeing product lines and reporting to Production Manager. As the Lead Hand, it is important to measure daily tracking for the assembly of Blackline products in a timely and efficient manner.

Responsibilities:

  • Develop and lead a team of assemblers, ensuring all product is built to meet or exceed Blackline's quality acceptance criteria, and built as per Blackline's work instructions
  • Ensure finished unit levels are maintained in inventory as per min/max levels to ensure next day shipment on all approved sales orders. This will involve constant communication with Logistics Coordinator and Production Supervisor
  • Ensure daily production quotas are met or exceeded and report back any variance, reporting hourly output
  • Ensure all operators are trained to perform the duties requested of them, and training is documented
  • Review operator's work for quality and speed, and provide timely feedback on performance
  • Ensure all product is built in a safety-first environment
  • Manage devices that require troubleshooting, in a timely manner
  • Create and build work orders in Netsuite, moving devices from raw materials to Finished Units. This will be done daily to ensure accurate inventory capture
  • Provide summary of accomplishments/challenges at daily production meeting
  • Advise procurement team of potential material shortages, including consumables
  • Report Availability to Build based on materials
  • Implement and document Engineering Change Notices and Deviations
  • Continuously review and update work instructions
  • Expedite resolution of issues on shop floor (test fixtures, tools, printers, etc.)
  • Perform cycle time analysis and balance work cells to facilitate one piece flow assembly

Requirements:

  • Experience in a Manufacturing environment, with knowledge of all areas of operations (including inventory, production, and distribution)
  • Proficient with MS Office and ERP systems (Blackline is currently using NetSuite)
  • Experience operating in a Lean Manufacturing environment is an asset
  • Supervisory experience an asset
  • Ability to efficiently prioritize tasks and delegate responsibilities as appropriate to optimize workflow and ensure that objectives are met.
  • Repetitive lifting and carrying of up to 30lbs
  • Manual handling of incoming and outgoing product
  • Standing for extended periods
  • Operating hand tools, dollies, and lift tables
  • Wearing PPE as required
