Role

Reporting to the HSE Manager, the Field Safety Inspector develops, administers, and implements companywide occupational safety programs and serves as the coordinator for the occupational safety programs within Rising Edge Group. The Field Safety Inspector plans, designs, develops, implements, and evaluates departmental occupational safety programs.

Responsibilities

  • Responsible for safety orientation, safety training, job site inspections and reporting
  • Maintain awareness of amendments to the Occupational Health & Safety Act (OHSA) and regulations and make recommendations for their implementation.
  • Responsible for monitoring adherence to the company safety program by all employees and subcontractors.
  • Identify corrective actions necessary to bring project (job sites) into compliance with applicable company policies, laws, regulations, and standards, and explain these measures to Rising Edge and/or Client representatives
  • Write detailed reports of safety inspections performed, safety-related violations observed, and corrective recommendations offered.
  • Recommend changes for safety prevention, inspection, and safety compliance endorsement procedures
  • Assist in the development and coordinate safety programs, such as safety inspection reporting, hazardous materials management, etc.
  • Provide training to managers and others on occupational safety issues.
  • Assist in development of new in house training for various needs (may be utilized for HSE training, as well as utilized for other departmental training development)
  • Assist in revising current in-house training courses and assist in further development of Skyprep courses
  • Assist in delivery of training to Rising Edge field staff
  • Aquire additional certifications where required to facilitate training certifications for regulated training requirements such as fall protection, etc.

This position will work on a 4/3 rotation of Mon-Thurs and will require out of town/travel work.

Wage range between $37.00 - $45.00

A reasonable estimate of the pay range is $37-$45 CAD at the time of this posting. Within the range, individual pay is determined by factors such as job-related skills, relevant experience, education and/or training.

Requirements

  • National Construction Safety Officer (NCSO) designation is required
  • Minimum 2 years of experience in an administrative function is required
  • Canadian Registered Safety professional (CRSP) designation is an asset
  • Experience in the High Voltage Industry is a definite asset
  • Effective written and verbal communications skills
  • A well-defined sense of diplomacy, including solid negotiation, conflict resolution, and people management skills is preferred
  • Thorough understanding of Incident Investigation, conformance verification and Root Cause Analysis is an asset
  • Ability to evaluate information to determine compliance with OH&S standards, Rising Edge Safety policies, etc. is needed
  • Software experience in Microsoft Suite (Microsoft, Excel, PowerPoint), Microsoft Outlook, ViewPoint and HardDollar systems would be an asset
  • Valid Driver's license with an acceptable driving required
