Overview of Provincial Comprehensive Respiratory Care Program
Supported by the Division of Respirology, the Comprehensive Respiratory Care (CRC) program was established in 2019 in an effort to help patients living with chronic lung disease become empowered to better manage and understand their respiratory health issues. It is an evidenced based, pragmatic strategy designed to improve and promote lung health. It focuses on addressing the true fundamentals health: education, tools for self-management and patient empowerment. It provides improved access to specialized care and acts as a bridge between acute and community care for patients living with respiratory disease. The CRC vision is: “to provide access to expert, evidence-based care of respiratory disease to residents of Newfoundland & Labrador, regardless of geography.” The program is offered provincially by a diverse interdisciplinary team working to their full scope of practice though in-person and virtual care.
