Job Summary:

NL Health Services is seeking applicants interested in a full-time, Hospitalist position.

The Hospitalist will work independently, providing services in acute inpatient care, chronic disease management, palliative care, and emergency care/patent stabilization. Successful candidates can be expected to perform clinical assessments and provide medical oversight for patients with common diagnoses of pneumonia, gastroenteritis, congestive heart failure, transient ischemic event, mild acute kidney injury, cellulitis, etc. Patients of a higher acuity or that are deemed outside the scope of practice of the Hospitalist will be consulted to Internal Medicine or other specialty group as appropriate. Overnight support will be provided by the Senior House Officer.

Schedules/Rotations are to be determined.

We are looking for individuals who have strong leadership and communication skills and can work collaboratively with an interdisciplinary team.

The successful candidates will report to the Clinical Chief of Primary Health Care, Eastern Urban Zone.

Required Qualifications
  • Current licensure with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Newfoundland and Labrador (CPSNL)

  • Eligible for membership of the medical staff of NL Health Services;
  • Demonstrates commitment to patient-focused care and evidence-based practice;
  • Experience and/or academic preparation in health care management.
  • Competency/experience in the Clinical Program area;
  • Eligible for academic appointment with Memorial University.
  • Criminal and vulnerable sector check.

Remuneration: Remuneration is Sessional General Practitioner rate as per the MOA
